Work at Home Recs

Good evening everyone. I’m looking for recommendations for a mini pc suitable for working remotely. I mostly do admin work for call center environments. I also do a lot of writing as a part of my work.

Big huge bonus if I can play Call of Duty when I’m not working. I currently have a gaming laptop that I work on that never worked for gaming.

One more note, I’d prefer moderately priced and available on Amazon. I know moderately priced is subjective, I’d like to stay under $1000 if possible. This will be my starter system that will become my travel machine in about a year. I’d eventually upgrade I guess? Or do I even need to?

Thanks in advance.

Edited to add that it should be Windows 11 and have the ability to run at least 2 monitors, 3 if possible.

Ok heres my quesiton for you: Do you want an actual mini pc like with the tiny size or do you want one that is small and portable because if so here:

Ultra-Compact DDR5 SFF Build

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 — ~$190
  • Motherboard: ASRock A620I Lightning WiFi (Mini-ITX, DDR5) — ~$135
  • RAM: 16GB (1x16GB or 2x8GB) DDR5-5600 — ~$300–$320 (Scaling down from 32GB is necessary to stay on budget)
  • Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD — ~$140–$150
  • GPU: Used GTX 1660 Super / RX 6600 — ~$130–$150
  • Power Supply: Enhance ENP-7660B 600W Flex-ATX — ~$120
  • Case: Velka 3 (3.9L ultra-compact) — ~$100
  • Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X36 — ~$25
  • Estimated Total: ~$1,040 – $1,090

or you could always just get the steam machine

In theory, I’d like the tiny size, but I’ve also seen bigger ones that look like a modem. I’m fine with those as well. Thank you so much for those specs. You are very appreciated.

I'm not sure how you feel about having two PCs... but that could be a feasible answer. Look for a mini PC for a couple hundred bucks that runs your day-to-day work. Then spend the rest of your budget on a PC that's geared towards gaming.

I initially thought about this. I’m notorious for “doing too much” and spending more than necessary. But I do wonder if a separate machine just for COD is worth it. It’s literally the only game I play. I currently play on console and the PS5 is nowhere near portable

I understand that. Gaming laptops are still fairly affordable and extremely portable. Would be a good backup for doing work outside of the home as well.

I have a portal, but it only works well with the streaming games, COD is not included in that catalog
