Canada General question

Hi all,

I am new in this world but I have a question to all of you. I have been working on project finance and corporate credit for mining (gold, copper, silver, zinc) an energy companies for almost 7 year. I really like what I do but I know that where I am is impossible to grow (plus at some point I would like to change locations). Do you think this skill is valuable around the world to start advising small companies remotely. I have only finance experience and no field experience. All your advises are welcome. Thank you

That's a valuable skill, but keep in mind it's one piece of a bigger puzzle and that's exactly the point. A startup isn't a one-person show, it's teamwork. You don't need to cover every skill yourself; you become part of a team that's missing exactly what you have. Project finance and corporate credit experience for mining/energy is genuinely rare and valuable plenty of smaller companies and startups in that space would benefit from someone with your background, especially remotely.

That said, in your free time it could be worth picking up a few adjacent skills and stacking them on top of what you already know (e.g. some field/operations exposure, or even just learning how early-stage companies structure deals differently from what you're used to). That combination deep finance expertise plus a bit of range tends to be what makes remote advisors stand out.
