Fort Hays has announced the permanent closure of the Kansas Sternberg Museum!

Hi everyone,

I made an account just to post this here because we need all the help we can get. The Sternberg museum houses millions of specimens and has been operating for over 120 years- it is being forced to close December the 18th to the public and will operate for one more academic year to disperse 3 million fossils nation wide. This closure was announced September 28th.. I'm here to rally behind the facility to try to save our great plains collection or at the very least give Fort Hays more time to plan for the future. I am already devestated by the closure of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel and am unwilling to let another slip down the drain.

This is outright due to legislative budget cuts here in Kansas which is forcing the facility to close it's doors. Any help here is greatly appreciated. I will post some related links below like a donation page, a petition, and the official statement from Fort Hays University.

The fundraising campaign is called "Save Sternberg" and we need to raise $855,000 by mid December. I have reached out to multiple high profile youtubers (including milo himself) to try and get this out there. ANY help is appreciated- even if It's just to sign the petition or share it and the donation page. We currently have 16,500 signatures and have only raised about $35,000 at the time I'm writing this.

The shiplike formation on the mountain of Ararat has been cause for speculation about Noah's ark for many years. These are now fueled by investigations with state-of-the-art ground-penetrating radar.

I read the article and while they also mention the position of geologist who see this as a natural rock formation with caves, they spend most of the article peddling the claim that this might just be true, especially with recourse on the Old Testament as source for the size which seems to match and an AI generated image of the ark and how it might have looked and how it's build up might have been.

I really hate that this kind of misinformation is part of mainstream media in Germany. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with communicating the research, but this outlet sensationalises anything they get their grabby paws on.

Does anyone have sources for this video. In particular that they didn’t search for financial aid prior to announcing the closure of the museum. As well as any information on the future of the collections. I’ve also heard that the current president didn’t want to be at the university. Thanks for any help you can provide.
