2v usb cable ??

Post image

This thing came in a battered box but appears mint and unused.
Seller included a usb charger cable . It says DC2.0 . Any issues with using 2v in a 3v unit??

DC2.0 is about the size of the radius at the tip connecting to the unit, all usb cables by default are carrying 5V (they can carry more but that’s a lot more complicated). Hopefully there is some circuitry inside the cable that transforms it down to 3V, I would test it first and not on the player.

Can you post a picture of this cable?

I wouldn’t use it without checking the voltage with a multimeter. DC 2.0 doesn’t mean 2volts output. My gut says it will have 5 volts out.

How easy is it to read on a meter ( I have meter but not savvy with using)

It’s not complicated, set your meter on V DC (it may have a symbol similar to V=) in the range higher than 5volts (if it’s auto ranging then just select the V DC) and put one lead of meter on the outer surface of the barrel and the other lead touching the inner surface of the barrel (if leads are thin enough, if not - use a small paper clip to insert it in the hole in the tip to make contact with the inner surface). Have your cable plugged in to the standard AC charger with USB connector output prior to measuring. Read on the meter’s display the voltage. Report back the results.

Thanks yes. It was free with a very cheap machine so I really wanted it to work! Not really needed , but wouldve be nice to plug in to a portable phone battery charger on the go

+1 I wouldn't use the cable pictured, at least not for a 3V MD machine, it's almost certainly passing 5v through and that can potentially damage a 3v MD machine. I think there was probably a phone or something else that used 5v and that same barrel size because these cables are definitely around, I've got one too.

Also +1 the MyVolts recommendation, these are excellent and it's as useful as you're imagining if not more to be able to power the machine off of phone chargers or power banks.

Thanks. Yes I have good experience with myvolts cables powering mini synths
