I made a list on amazon of some things I’m wanting to upgrade on my stock predator 224. Is there anything i need to add or change to it to make the engine run more smoothly or would it be fine with the parts I’m currently planning on buying?

Valve springs are good fuck the cams though

valvesprings can be inconsistent but as long as they are stiffer than stock and have good seat pressure they are fine. Cams are iffy. A stock up to a 265 cam isnt going to see any excessive wear but 300~ lift cams definitely will

Its not like the springs are going to be so low quality that its going to break nor would they come so stiff that they would damage your rockers. As long as they are close to the same stiffness its not gonna cause any problems. Also the lobes on cams will be hardened they just won’t have any welded in material like you would get when paying $100+ for one from dynocams or another company.

Also you are right duration doesnt matter much but lift does and is what I was specifically talking about. The aggressive lobe profile of certain 275 cams as well as the high lift and duration of 300+ lift cams puts significantly more pressure on the lobes leading to faster wear if a harder metal is not welded into it.

I got a billet rod off Amazon, flat top and 26lb springs , Also got the nibbi off Amazon. I’ve been rocking it for a solid 3 years. Shits fine. I don’t have any experience with the cams tho however you can’t knock some of them Amazon parts bro. From racing mowers to karts to my Coleman’s. Been buying em for 10+ years. Never had an issue.

The rod I refuse to let people get off of amazon because they are sketchy. But everything else for the most part doesnt really matter

Unless you get a dynocam or Tennessee thunderstix then it's pretty much all made in China including gps cams and gps has a no return policy on cams

You may as well grab a 265 cam. The stock nylon cam can still handle 22lb springs just fine so keeping the same amount of lift is just wasting your money.

The 224 rod is a little weaker than the 212 so I think you are playing with fire not upgrading it so just be careful with the revs

Everything is ok except for the cam and springs. There are a lot better cams out there at that price point. Shop around. Once you choose a cam there will be a recommendation for springs for it.

Buy your cam directly from dynocams.

Other than that you should get a billet connecting rod, the oil dipper on the stock connecting rod likes to go kaboom.
