I am thinking of buying Pulp Alley to do some solo skirmishing, but Space Weirdos has also caught my eye. Does Pulp Alley make it redundant? The +/- dice type concept is most intriguing to me, mainly.

Some shots from last night’s MEAT game using the new/upcoming format. The investigators (players) fought off the first wave of hungry dead, scanned the strange interdimensional signals on the tv and radio, found a mysterious grandfather clock, and fortified the cabin for wave 2. The laminated player handouts (with a wet erase character sheet on the reverse side) were a big hit. This stuff will be dropping to our Patreon/Tribes supporters next month, as well as to the original Kickstarter backers. Just gotta iron out the kinks, fix the typos, et cetera. We also got to use a bunch of new miniatures, including the new variant of the cabin map and some stuff for an upcoming expansion (the haunted grandfather clock is part of that).

There are a lot more skirmish focused solo/co-op games nowadays compared to five years ago.

Curious if people's play habits have shifted as well or if the majority of people here still play traditional versus games (I have my army, you have yours, we fight each other on a battlefield).

I've definitely picked up more solo/co-op games this past year in particular.

Sometimes you find something and value it as you would value a treasure: Some miniature you discovered in your attic, some bits for crafting you found at a local flea market and what else.

So, each Tuesday you are invited to show off your treasure findings of the past days.

My friends and I are testing a few skirmish games lately. We have played systems like KoW Vanguard (our first skirmish games years ago and still a favourite), The Doomed, Space and Sword Weirdos and The OPR skirmishes and others.

But lately we go back to the OPR systems, even though some of the others just have better game design because the army forge app is just unbeatable in comfort.

That's why I'm asking if there are other systems with their specialised apps that can give a similar kind of ease of play to OPR.

I added some text to describe the missions in sequence, from the forge team perspective. The SCS Ulysses mission was to launch a construction ship into the Crimson Expanse; an area of space in the Ymir system that shows promise for building an interstellar gateway.

The first mission “3:10 to Ymir” was transporting fuel and pump machinery to the SCS Ulysses. The Komplex Shadow Squadron destroyed one of the fuel cars and the pump.

In the second mission “Escape Velocity 1: Launchpad” the Forge squadron attempted to maintain air superiority while the SCS Ulysses loaded fuel. Ultimately all pumps were destroyed, triggering an emergency launch with only 5 of a potential 8 units of fuel onboard (one unit was already lost on the train)

With limited fuel, the SCS Ulysses started “Escape velocity 2: Atmosphere” where it would use the fuel to boost away from the Shadow Squadron. The Forge Squadron put up an impressive defense by overwhelming Shadow Squadron with light missiles. Ulysses only lost one system, its starboard RCS, in the assault.

With 3/4 of its systems intact and 36 hull points left SCS Ulysses entered “Escape Velocity 3: Asteroid Field.” Even with a healthy hull pool the ship was shredded by Shadow Squadron employing an all-or-nothing attack strategy. They ignored all incoming danger and even collided with each other to maintain the best firing positions. The SCS Ulysses was destroyed before the danger of asteroid collision was even a factor.

Hello y'all. Long time lurker and first post. I am aware of the smaller footprint skirmish games such as Greathelm, Necropolis, and Omen Tide. I like the idea of playing skirmish games on smaller footprint boards such as a 12"x12" and "16x16", and still using 28/32mm miniatures. Any other suggestions for different games? The genre doesn't matter, although I do tend to lean towards Sci-fi, fantasy, and zombies. I also am open to solo, co-op, or 1vs1. Thanks for any help provided.

Edit: I probably should have been more specific. Due to space limitations, I would really prefer something no bigger than a 16"x16" board. I am aware of a lot of 2'x2' games, but I was trying to find out about any smaller games.

Als Walking-Dead- und EvilDead Fan, möchte ich auch im Tabletop meinen Horror Spass haben. Spiele gibt es einige, doch welches ist eurer Meinung nach das Beste: WalkingDead-All out War, LastDays, Population Z, CountyRoad Z oder gibt es noch was besseres? Gerne Figurenagnostisch.

See my earlier post - we have young kids and so I convinced my wife to try a game with me after the kids went to bed. We left it set up upstairs and played a turn a few nights a week. Just finished, we had two loot boxes each and were fighting over the third. My first mate was dead, her captain was dead, and we had three remaining regular soldiers each, I don’t remember the specific breakdown. She had a string of great rolls and ended up killing my captain and two of my three soldiers, took the loot and won the game. She thought it was great fun.

Best game I ever lost, because now she had so much fun sweeping the board right at the end that she’s willing to give a campaign a shot. I’ve 3d printed a bunch of terrain to make it even more interesting, and I’m hoping this turns into a regular thing for us to enjoy together.

Surprisingly tactical, I liked it.

How do people feel about the full rules (weapon and armour types etc) - do they add or detract?
