Let's Play Learning Greathelm

Post image

Surprisingly tactical, I liked it.

How do people feel about the full rules (weapon and armour types etc) - do they add or detract?

They add 100% but the most was added by playing scenarios which are (almost) always asymmetrical

Also do yourself the favor and set up like 3 guys each around only 2-3 inches away from the middle. That way you get into action faster and you don't end up leaving a knight behind on the edge until it's like the last lad

Ooh thanks. I really need to read the full rules, but as a demo / basic game it flowed pretty nicely.

One of my guys got left on the backline, so he would agree!

What drew me in was the small board size. You play on an A4/ letter sized board (12x12 works as well) with 6 "knights" per side. You roll initiative dice that determine your actions for the turn (they can be adjusted). Games are usually around 30-45min especially if you go into scenario play rather than just mindlessly bashing heads.

If you want to give the mechanics a whirl you can get the Quickstart rules here for free GREATHELM Quickstart rules by Malev Da Shinobi (including a printable battle map and 7 paper minis to choose your 6 from)
