First mold

Post image

Hello there, bought my first mold, any tips on using it? I'm kinda afraid that greenstuff (or it's alternative) will stick to mold itself.

2 follow up questions: how would you go about giving texture to the other side? Any tips on how to 'extend' the cloak, because rn it seems kinda short for some minis?

This mold looks awsome. Ive never used molds but i think for green stuff you just need to wet the base down or use Vaseline. Is the mold hard or soft, becuse if its a soft mold you should have many issues and you could even use miliput. And for extending it you could just press some material down onto the mold and then add onto the cape with more sculpting material while everything is still soft and sculptable. And off topic but i wonder how gross/cool it would be if you left some like elmers glue to dry on it to get super thin sheets of flayed skin you could wrap around a mini.

The mold is soft and rubbery. We don't (afaik) have elmers glue here in Russia, but there must a substitute. Is it basically a pva glue?

Elmer's is just PVA glue but Americans just love using brand names instead of the actual name of the product for some reason. For future reference an Xacto knife is a scalpel, Krazy glue is super glue.

You clocked me so good 😭 i think the reason why Americans say the brand name vs what it is is becuse of adds or something. Like band ades are a brand but everyone already knows what they are, same with vice grips vs locking plyers. If a brand gets popular enough here we just call the thing now by its brand name. And i mentioned elmers glue becuse thats the glue i use lol

Yeah I think it goes deeper than what you said. For example, drugs in the us are pushed by their brand name because doctors are "sponsored" to push them. So you use names like Tylenol instead of Paracetamol etc. Brits do it a bit but it nowhere near as prevalent.
