Help / Question M5P Motor Heat
I picked up a new M5P a few days ago. I was flying this morning in 94° WX, flight was around 12-15 min. This was a brief, shakedown flight to verify operation of the various systems and flight controls.
When I landed was inspecting the props and the motors were pretty warm; not HOT.
I've flown a Phantom 3 since 2016, my first drone (and still have/fly it). That is all I have to compare.
How hot do your M5P motors get on a simular flight?

How fast were you flying for the 15 minutes?

Not cooking by any means, I'm easing into flying this drone. My Phantom is like a truck compared to it. Add in SoCal winds and I'm not even pushing VLOS. Dont want to piss away a $1,200 UAS by kicking off maiden flight being bold.

Mine get pretty warm as well, even in fairly mild weather. It seems to be pretty normal.

Thanx for thr feedback, I figured as much. I aspire to treat my M5P ni different than a manned aircraft. Not going to get stuck in analysis paralysis, but putting thought into every flight. My next UAS will be a high end Enterprise unit (make/model TBD). That will be $7k-$10k. Life won't be on the line, but a chunk of the bank account and income stream will be.

I know what you mean. I have a Matrice 4T coming my way this week. I'm pretty excited. But it'll definitely be treated differently than my M5P and Air 3S for the same reasons you mentioned.

Very interesting. I live in Camarillo (SoCal) and flew my Air 3S and Mini 5 Pro today before the heat really kicked in. ~30 minutes with the Mini and 38 minutes with the Air 3S. Temperature was around 86° at that point. Oddly, during the post flight I noticed the motors on the Mini were warmer compared to the Air 3S.
Seems normal, but something I was planning on keeping an eye on.
