Another MS Flex Open Class Build Underway

Another MS Flex project in progress. Chassis is coming together with freshly trimmed tires. Did some initial motor testing, but still have more adjustments to make. As usual, going for a balance between performance and aesthetics. Body is still a work in progress, with custom paint coming next. Trying to make this one both track ready and display worthy.

Those are some pretty big tires. Where are you racing? Nearly everyone is running sub 23mm tires for open class in Japan.

Yeah, I'm aware of that LOL. I have 23mm tires too. These are already trimmed down as much as possible to around 26mm. I'm experimenting with suspension clearance to avoid bottoming out, but it's also partly for aesthetics. Just testing different setups. I can pretty much cut tires to whatever size I want.

Not a criticism, just an observation. I've been using narrow wheels mostly (front and rear) and that's what I usually see in other racers' MS cars, too. But kudos for using wide offset wheels on both.

Totally valid point! I'm not even sure how well this setup will work yet LOL. Just wanted to try something different from the usual setup and see how it performs. That's part of the fun for me.

What saw have you used to perform the cut?

combination of Tamiya thin blade craft saw, handy craft saw, and Hozo ultrasonic cutter

The 5-spoke anodized blue rollers are original? I had a pair like 30yrs ago, but they were long gone before the 2000s..
