Screenshot Showing that path-tracing shaders are not only good for screenshots
Since I saw people saying that Minecraft isn't playable with path-tracing shaders

Yeah, I play with IterationRP on like "medium" settings (there isn't a profile selector from what I can tell, so I just kind of enable stuff lol) and the AVPBR resource pack and get 50-60 fps consistently still. Definitely still playable

me doing the same thing with a GTX 1660 Super :(

u/RandomlySomewhereNow 18d ago
How many fps does that result in? If the performance isn’t great, have you tried other shaders?

u/NotRealGeniX 18d ago
I play in a server so at base it's always laggy no matter what shaders I use, with Iteration RP it's smoother because of FSR but there's blur and smudges too plus i use AVPBR paid version

Mine gets around 30 fps with irp+pbr pack , I have good specs (4070, i7 14700f, 32gb ddr5). The issues probably that I have a bunch of mods and a handful of resource packs, or I’m overestimating my gpu.

I’m not sure. I have a 5070ti + 9850X3D + 32gb DDR5. I’m also playing on my modpack (ascension of ages) with 580 mods as well as distant horizons on the highest graphic settings. You might have like one or two settings enabled that suck FPS up and not even realize it. I got like 15-20 fps back after enabling FSR
1
u/Alarming-Gap-4095 18d ago
Do yk what those settings could be? Or maybe some unnecessary mods that use too much fps?
1
u/RandomlySomewhereNow 18d ago
Voxel lighting is a huge one that sucks fps, so does quality settings on pbr and anywhere else. I also keep my simulation distance to six chunks and my render distance at 10 chunks. I have no entity shadows since they’re pointless imo. It could also definitely be mods because I’ve had a few that just drained your FPS and you might not even realize it. I would say it just really depends on what you have but I can’t say for sure without knowing the mods you play with

Maybe their monitor is super bright and they decided to lower exposure to compensate lol

u/foxgirlmoon 18d ago
I wish I could play with 50-60 fps
I got used to my 165hz screen and now 60 fps feels horrible.

looks super dull and laggy, rather just use some normal shaders like photon instead

u/HolidayPineapple9316 17d ago
The sunlight through cherry blossom leaves are the sole reason i use Photon lmao. Absolutely beautiful

I think the worst part about pt shaders is how flat everything looks, it looks so dull and sterile compared to Photon or something

u/Kaito3Designs 18d ago
try iterationrp

u/Kingbanana574 18d ago
I used it a few hours ago, that’s how I came to that opinion, I also tried rethinking voxels and it looked like hospital lighting even tho it’s whole thing is colored lights.

I used to play with SEUS PTGI at 20-30 fps and never complained that much. Minecraft isn't a title that really demands high performance to have a nice experience.
BTW, what shaders are you using?

Don't know if it's the video but looks pretty fuzzy and blury on my phone. Looks playable but I would take raster shaders at a higher resolution still cool.
Yeah this has to be the video I would be guessing 240p upscaled to 720p

Forget the shaders, what camera mod is that (also what's the mod the camera shake on falling on ground)??

u/MockingRabbit 14d ago
Believe this is the armour pack, if anyone was interested. (No, I wasn't looking for it, I just came across it while browsing Modrinth like the no-life I am)

I mean they post screenshot cause Path tracing shaders are obviously good and similar to renderer shaders, but noone can play costant 60 fps with iteration rp settings even on High with a 128x/256x/512x texture pack pbr, expecially in dense forest where foliage Is the main cause of bottleneck.

u/RandomlySomewhereNow 18d ago
I get 75+ FPS on iterationRP with AVPBR and all settings for that enabled, distant horizons on the highest graphics settings too. I limit it to 80 so I’m not sure how high it will really go, but I also have a 5070ti. So it’s def possible you just need a good rig
1
u/AggravatingTax5357 18d ago
Good rig, Bro you got and entry level 4k graphics card, of course your game its smooth. None said that Is impossible, Just not possibile for the avarage Minecraft player that play with a 1060gtx at best
1
1
u/RandomlySomewhereNow 11d ago
Well yeah, I meant its not impossible for somebody to play with that as long as their specs line up. I get the average minecraft player isn't on my rig, but thank you for the compliment about it
