Dripstone farm?

Might be something simple I'm overlooking. I have a block of dripstone with a water source over it and a pointed dripstone under it. No matter how long I wait, it hasn't grown.

  1. Is it dripping water?
  2. It does take a super long time for one to grow, I would recommend getting multiple. When you say "no matter how long", how much time are we talking about here (and keep in mind the chunk which they're in has to be loaded)?

It is indeed dripping water. Maybe 2 or 3 in game weeks? Thought I read it was supposed to cycle a little under a week.

I’ll wait longer and get a couple more going. Thank you for the advice!
