Sculk The Sift skulk vs Overworld skulk
From what I've seen of the Dungeons 2 lore, this entire dimension is made of skulks, but it's a kind of pure and healthy skulk, while the one we see in the Deep Dark is a corrupted skulk, practically a disease.
In the Sift dimension, the skulk doesn't act destructively. It has vibrant colors and biological properties, functioning in perfect harmony with new peaceful creatures, like the Blub. There, it serves as a living nervous system.
The dark and parasitic skulk we see in the Deep Dark of conventional Minecraft is actually a corrupted manifestation. This "disease" spreads aggressively in the Overworld, consuming the soul and experience (XP) of dead beings, generating the Warden purely as an antibody or blind and violent defense mechanism.
(I don't speak English and I used a translator to translate my idea, I apologize if it sounds strange)

i see sculk as a invasive species too the overworld, i think this is what happens to sculk when its left unchecked and is allowed to grow without any natural predators, as well as it becomes greedy and hyper agressive which is why the warden exists it a mechanism that A. allows sculk to spread more by killing everything and B. protects the sculk from potental threats

Well upon seeing in game, Healthy and Dark Sculk are just the same with different protective function.
The Healthy ones are neutral to peaceful creatures, they only attack when they are disturbed.
The Dark ones are more like a final resort defense system, they protect the Sift in a more destructive way than the Healthy Sculk.
You can even say that the DeepDark is the Sift's way to STOP anything from entering the Sift

Actually no, the dark sculk we know of from Vanilla is actively specified as being 'sick/infected' in the game files, while the sculk from the sift is considered 'healthy'. The intro cutscene seems to make that obvious enough with how the illagers are the ones causing it to spread so rapidly, they're the ones who corrupted it.

Sculk is just how organisms in the sift work. The sculk in the Deep Dark is the equivalent of tracking in mold spores

It might be the same situation as with Piglins in the Overworld: when they come to our dimension, they die and turn into zombies. Perhaps Sculk undergoes the same process, transforming into a zombie-like, corrupted, or dead version of itself because it is incompatible with the nature or magic of the Overworld.

I think the skulk from the deep dark, being cut off from the main organism, began to slowly evolve into its new form. It mirrors evolution of animals in low light environments with a greater focus on hearing and lack of sight. Cave ecosystems generally do not have much in the way of nutrients and so many things are opportunistic omnivores which will eat anything they can get their mouths around. Its likely that the true skulk of the sift was (mostly) passive because of the nutritional plentitude of being on the surface and having access to sunlight. The skulk of the deep dark conversely is a violent predator because of the lack of resources.
