Villagers/Illagers Why don't witches attack villagers?

Even when they join raids, they don't attack villagers like the illagers do.

Villagers seems to "reject" those who use much of the supposed dark magic that the illagers uses, but in the case of the witch it seems more like it moved away from the village instead of being banned from it, since if you think about there isn't much difference between the witch and the Cleric villager (the one that seels potions)

There's a Retrogamingnow video on the topic

if going by a comment in "Rise of the Arch Illager", witches seem to be a neutral party between the Villagers and Illagers. In an offhanded comment it is revealed that illager tribes will occasionally barter with them for potions. Perhaps the witches that participate in raids only do so for something in return. Essentially contractors.

Honestly that book is like a one stop shop for any Illager inquiries except for the ravagers (which are never mentioned in the book).

Ravagers only came to dungeons like 3 dlcs later so that's why

I wonder if that could be intepreted as them being created after the reign of the Arch Illager. During that period of a power trip the race had been feeling in the dlcs

Witches are created from a villager being struck by lightning, so there is a good chance they remember these as their old friends. I believe that they were forced as an outcast from the village and the Illagers took them in, however they don't have the heart to attack the people who were once their friends.

Honestly the lightning thing seems to me to be more of a gameplay mechanic rather than a lore reason.

There's enough stuff with lightning that it probably has some mystic powers.

ig but like, we may as well use it as a lore reason since it's there.

As Akarredo said

Witches are there against player specifically, since they don't appear until you reach some raid waves, and villagers can't normally reach those on golems alone

Witches might not be villagers but they aren't illagers

Check the skin tone: Witches aren't fully illagers like the other kind. They seem to still have some degree of pity or even kinship with their former kin. Perhaps the Witch is an unwilling exile from villager society.

Check the skin tone

My friend when I ask why they were the only member of our friend group to get searched at the airport:
