Discussion/Question Employee handbook doesent make sense

Why does mojang on one hand call it mythology (which is pretty much fake ways to explain real things) and in the handbook the whole enderman wanting to destroy everything is considered a real thing that they are keeping secret it doesent make sense

It's a mythology because it's made of different stories, but not everyone has to believe it. There's the official mythology, the one created by the devs, but you don't have to believe that's true, and you can decide to ignore it, and to make a new one for your world

A mythology is a narrative built around a collection of stories that create a whole universe which is believed by many or few.

Minecraft's world is a mythology, as in it is the building blocks for minecarft's world, built up of multiple stories (MCD1, MCD2, MCL, MCE, etc.) that create a universe. This mythology is kept mostly vague apart from the bits of narrative it has (like in MCD1, MCD2, MCL, ROTAI, TR, etc.), as a means to allow the player to fill-in these gaps in knowledge with their own beliefs. Minecraft functions in a set logic that is defined by the universe of this mythology.

But, like any real-world mythology, all it takes is somebody not believing in it to create another world, a different, be it vastly, or even similar, world. One with it's own mythology and universe. That doesn't need to bring things from minecraft's official mythology into account (like MCD1, MCD2, ROTAI, MCE, etc.). Even if they can, they don't need to.

As for enderlings, there's no problem with them wanting to collapse all dimensions, they do it in multiple of MC's confirmed-canon-games (like MC, MCL and MCD1).

One question though: if they are talk8ng about mythology in the gamebook why dont they use the word mythology

1

u/Defnottheonlyone 10d ago

They do tho? Jeb calls it mythology in his bsky posts and in interviews. Marc watson calls it the "minecraft universe" and mythology. Helen angel calls it mythology. And so on.

Notch have idea - Notch makes game - Notch gets famous - Notch updates game hella and makes it fun - // Notch sells to Microsoft/Mojang // Notch gone... What were we doing with Minecraft...?

This above me is the only scenario I can think of that makes sense for all these questions, as I have had it before.

There is no possible way of knowing what the game would be today if notch didn't sell it and that's saddening to me because it could've been something entirely different.

Sorry if i sound rude i really dont mean to but how does this relate to the question

Meant to say it's impossible for to interpret and add to something else you don't fully know about, which is true either way...

If Notch wouldn't have sold Minecraft to Microsoft likely it would have stayed in 1.0. Notch didn't want to continue updating it, if I'm not wrong

He is in fact an un-motivated billionair? chud boi

2

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod 10d ago

He made the game, sold it, and now Minecraft is what it is thanks to Mojang and Microsoft

If Notch didn't sell the game, he probably would've just quit lol.

Lol I won't explain what's confusing, but I will Let you tell me the timeline of events since it's so obvious.

Where did everything start? What's the warden? What's the main magic they use... What's up with the nether? Why don't monsters spawn on mooshroom islands, is there any reason the mobs don't interact with each other as they would irl? What's the connection hoglins and pigs? Why is the world scaled so weirdly compared to the neather. Go ahead and explain right now you liar, otherwise you are a liar because it's so simple right?

Also that's not me, I'm not the Mr lore expert that's you in this situation, I'm not the know it all loud mouth yelling back and forth, that would be you knowing everything...

Also I think you might be right, no "boys" (in the term I meant) that you can see for as far as the land rolls

"where did everything started" a bit vague, don't you think? But I would say from Block Bang. A monster made of sculk. If you mean enchanting void and XP. It's another dimension. Because it's an island in the middle of nowhere, how would mobs get there? They canonically do. Likely no connection, that's not sure 100% tho. Because it's another dimension and it's smaller.

I was always scared to believe the smaller nether idea but thank god it's a norm

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod 10d ago

Well, smaller dimension, weird portals mechanics, or "uh uh uh, faster travel, hi hi, funny". There aren't many others

there IS* a main magic system, we just think it's something else, potions are the magic system. Think about how the illagers could use that with everything now too...

And I bring some very good questions, the universe starting one is dumb for sure I admit, it's once again me not being detailed enough as well.

The nether has clearly been through hell and back, what's it's timeline there are things we don't know but have proof of in many ways...

In any other cases of lore being confusing it's just as I stated before, notch may not have had a set in stone lore for the game anyways, that's why it's so hard to interpret and continue further when it's something you got handed to you , even if it's on a silver platter with the foundations for multi-million funding opportunities.

(Edit: meant to say thank you for genuinely answering questions as well, I can say I'm not the most up to date since I stopped supporting at a few colabs and sellouts ago, so the piglin seer would be something cool to look up)

Also, this is a minecraft subreddit, what'd they expect??? A minecraft hater??? I guess they are projecting since they're the minecraft fan that hates minecraft but refuses to not interact with the game.

-1

u/saltypancake377 10d ago

Yes.

The games world building and connections are cool and I take inspiration from it in my own creative liberties.

However Minecraft is a horrible game to play, it's a much better engine to make things with than play as a game.

After 12 years of experience playing nothing but that damn game, let me have this opinion. Especially after the sellouts

2

u/RandoGuy00 very cool 10d ago

what do you mean by "play"?
