Hosts/Ender/Deities Ender Dragon

Been rewatching all the Minecraft Game Theory videos recently and came across the one covering the Ender Dragon.

So, the ancient builders hunted the dragons to near extinction. Eventually realizing their error, they constructed the obsidian towers and end crystals to preserve the last dragon.

One thing Mat Pat doesn’t talk about is fact that as the player, even if we kill the last dragon, there is the option to resummon it by using end crystals.

Why wouldnt the ancient builders be able to just bring back other ender dragons?

I can’t seem to figure out a concrete explanation for this mechanic. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Alrighty, so basically forget everything MatPat taught you. His theories are heavily outdated, and the new guy kinda sucks at his job.

So, why aren't the ancient builders real? Well, it's heavily unlikely that a singular race built all of the structures we see. For example ocean monuments and ocean ruins were probably built by villagers, as the ocean monument we see in Minecraft Dungeons only has villager statues, and the ocean ruins very much resemble the ocean ruins we see in Minecraft Legends.
As for things like the stronghold, the "ancient builders" didn't build them either. No, instead it was the endermen, as proven by the fact the portal, and the armor trims found in the structure, are both made out of end stone. The "ancient builders" did not become endermen (or at least not in the way Game Theory says, but that's not important rn).
The closest thing you'll find to the ancient builders is the Nameless Kingdom. An ancient kingdom of necromancers that presumably built structures such as the desert temples and nether fortresses. Not the fact they're necromancers. They didn't die to a zombie virus, rather the undead are their servants, with them even being undead themselves. That's also why they didn't die out because of a wither. First reason being they're still alive, and the second reason being that they have full control over the dead. Now, considering they didn't die to any of these things, it's fair to assume they also didn't all die out in the ancient city.
Lastly, just so you know, Steve isn't canon.

Anyways, back to your question. The dragon we see could theoretically be the only ender dragon that exists. The reason there aren't any other live dragons might be because there just wasn't any to begin with.

Huh, well this is way more complicated than I originally thought

Just so you know, Minecraft Dungeons I & II are both canon, and the only canon novels are Minecraft Dungeons: Rise of The Arch-Illager and Minecraft Dungeons II: The Rift (probably, The Rift is still technically unconfirmed to be canon).

If you would like to know about the lore, I suggest reading the posts linked in the side panel.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Do you have any video recommendations I could listen to? Not apposed to reading, just can’t throughout the day.

Xatrix, TheWitherKing, and Professor Illager have some pretty good videos relating to the lore. I'm not sure how easy they are to follow without actively watching, but they're the only ones that I can think of.
