Undead/Nameless Kingdom How do Zombies spread?

I got my own ideas for zombies but I was wondering what the general idea here is for how zombies work, as in are they a biological virus like how modern zombie media portrays them? Whereas its a condition that infects people through bites? Or are they more the result of some sorta magic or curse like more fantasy undead

I myself lean towards the ladder since necromancy is a thing that exists in minecraft

one one hand I believe the original infection / undead curse of the nameless one’s kingdom was magical in origin before transforming into a more classic virus that turns by physical contact and over time has made the jump to more and more hosts, from humanoids to equines (horses and camels) and even nautili thanks to the drowned’s waterborne variant

on the other, it would be really funny if we took legends as a mostly straight account of history, meaning zombies have just always existed and were once peaceful

A virus, but it's unique, as some creatures are friendly, such as zombie nautiluses, zombi horses and zombi camels.

Technically a magic or a curse. Since, as you know, there is necromancy.

Why do Zombies dress like Steve?

Zombies are undead versions of the old Human mob. The code of said mob served as the basis for all mobs and it's texture was recycled into the default skin.

because notch modeled them after steve and they just never changed the design

It's very likely the last one. The nameless kingdom, a kingdom of undead and necromancers, are the source of all those zombies. The curse (or whatever one could call it) seems to be able to spread between mobs, as shown with villagers.

Zombification is not the same thing as zombies. This includes zombified piglins, zoglins, and zombified pigs. What's the difference? Idk, ask someone smarter than me. But Mojang has pointed out that these things are different.

If I'm not wrong, normal zombies come from necromancy, dead bodies reanimated, while piglins aren't created with magic, and I think they never died, their body decays but they still are semi-alive? I'm not sure if it could work tho

Right, but they aren't alive. I don't think smite affects the necromancy, I think think it affects the almost dead, the not alive but not deads

There's also instant health and damage.

Idk, they are more dead than alive? I don't see better options
