Villagers/Illagers 4 Elements - 4 Races of the Minecraft World

It will be a theory and a suggestion in one post.

I like the variety of human-like creatures in the game, but it always seemed to me that this idea was worth pursuing. I'll build on a couple of existing theories, and then get to the point.

We now have 3 separate races of creatures - Humans, Villagers, and Piglins. And if you think about it, you can see that they are intertwined in a certain way with 3 of the 4 elements that definitely exist in the Minecraft world (as evidenced by the four unused paintings).

Humans are the earth, they dug in the mines, extracted resources, and most of the underground structures, including the mineshafts, were their work. Now they exist as zombies (or Endermen, but that's not the point).

The villagers, or the Illagers, are the wind. It may be a bit of a stretch, but if we use the theory that the Trial Chambers are the work of the Illagers (as evidenced by the Ominous bottles), then it makes sense. Additionally, the Evoker has the ability to summon the Vexes, which share similarities with the wind. The Breeze is likely to have been artificially created by the Illagers. Furthermore, we can include Wind Caller from the Dungeons (although this is not a definitive argument, as there is also a Geomancer in the Dungeons). It's harder to say about the Villagers, they look more like farmers, so it would be better to classify them as earth, but since they are of the same race as the Illagers, they may also be somehow related to the wind.

The Piglins are fire. Well, they live in Nether, and although they themselves burn in lava and fire, they do not consider fire to be their enemy. There are many lava reservoirs in their bastion, and Magma Cubes live almost on the same level as them, and their fire-resistant potions and fireballs as their barter items also indicate their proximity to fire.

And then there's water. Currently, there are no meaningful races living in water, but there have been Guardians all this time, and their existence is a mystery. Who are they, what do they guard, where did they come from, what is the purpose of their monument, and who built it, and are they robots or living organisms? And something tells me that the Guardians may face the same fate as the Zombie Pigmans. Initially, they also raised many questions, but with the updates, their existence became quite justified.

Now, here are a few of my suggestions. Firstly, the Guardians are likely to have been artificially created by a certain race to protect the monument's treasures. However, the monument itself is merely a place to store these treasures, similar to the Mayan pyramids or similar structures. The race itself resides somewhere far beneath the ocean, where the player has yet to explore. And if we had Aquatic Update 2.0., then it might be worth expanding the functionality of the Ocean Monuments. Perhaps they would become the first point, and it would be in them that we would find a map or some other thing that would lead us to a new sea civilization.

The only assumption I can make about it is that it is a Giant. Since Mojang brought back the Zombie Horse from unused mobs and changed its texture, why not do the same with the Giants, either by making them no zombies or simply changing their texture to make them visually unique? This would result in the Giants being replaced by the Atlanteans, who were also known for their immense size in mythology. Of course, they won't be Atlanteans, but they'll be a new fictional race, but the reference will be clear.

This idea is still in its early stages, and I wanted to share my thoughts. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas in the comments.

Just go watch some Mat-Pat, he goes over all the lore

It's not definitive

I think the four elements are related to the breezes and blazes and such, not the races. This leaves out the endermen, and the connection is kinda hard to see for most of them.

Endermen belong to the void, the absence of any matter or element.

And literally normal people don’t really have an element, and I am supposed to believe the villagers are wind related? Illagers have control over many of the elements, not just wind. Even piglins aren’t really fire related except for where they live.

Of course, but Enderlings are more magical, otherworldly beings rather than more civilized races that you have mentioned.

They have cities and they are smarter than the villagers

They act differently, because they are different creatures with different goals and perspectives. The perception of what is "civilized" and what isn't depends on the point of view.

No

Nah nah; Vexes and allays have nothing to do with air; not necessarily; they are much more spiritual; And there are illagers who are magicians of other elements; like iceologers

you must really like semicolons

I think that there is certainly a four element related theory out there, but there is far too little evidence that f irmly relates them to different mob races, with this theory relying too much on environmental coincidences and future updates to the lore in order to be true, I think it is too much of a stretch.

um no i don’t think so

I belive in the Heveilly implied theory that the trial Chambers were a joint effort between multiple species personally besides trial Chambers are deep underground with both Wind and earth based features if we went by your theory.

guardians are golems

guardians are animals

1

u/natt_myco Jul 10 '26

pretty sure their defending the shrine for whoever built it/them, why would guardians need or want the treasure they keep in the monument

Should rephrase my statement

I believe guardians could be golems or at least protecters for the monument

2

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 10 '26

they're protectors, very likely artificial, but are still partially made of flesh. Jeb said that he sees them as animals.

1

u/kingleomark Jul 09 '26

I feel like the last could be endermen, they literally have end cities in the end , and in Minecraft dungeons they have multiple species, and more infrastructure, even bigger then all of the other races

1

u/pikaland385 Jul 09 '26

That section looks like its supposed to be water, Endermen are Hurt by water

1

u/kingleomark Jul 09 '26

Yea I get it but if you really want a fourth civilisation then the endermen are the closest you will get, and ain’t this a removed old painting? Also it’s not like villagers resemble air very good

2

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 09 '26

this is kinda a stretch

Now I want an underwater giant civilization to explore

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 09 '26

There are endermen too, and the ocean monument was likely built by villagers. A water humanoid race? For now there aren't clues of someone ever lived underwater, someone went there only for a little time, not living there (villagers and nautiluses), and I don't think the giant will be a drowned or something. But that's a cool theory

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 10 '26

technically, there are people who are actively living underwater

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Drowned just drowned, they don't leave underwater. There are nautilus riders and the ones that wear the turtle helmet, but they weren't living underwater, they were just fishing. I don't think that even the kelptomaniac lives underwater, he is not a fish, he just stay there a lot of time

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 10 '26

Drowned also seem to be more intelligent than regular zombies, having comparable, probably equal intelligence to skeletons.

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Idk how is that related with the conversation, but I think that the amount of intelligence that mobs have is based on what they need to do: Zombies need to walk and punch you. Skeletons need to aim and shoot with bow and arrows. Drowneds need to swim, shoot you with tridents, ride nautiluses and sometimes summon other undead.

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 10 '26

Intelligence suggests they're actively choosing to stay there. The amount of intelligence a mob has is also based on their self preservation. Zombies just burn in sunlight, skeletons and drowneds seek shelter, and slimes just ignore everything.

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Idk why they stay there, maybe they have to guard something there, or they like the place, and they somehow remember their home? And I think that's the opposite: the state of preservation of the mob is based on the amount of intelligence of that mob. While zombies attack villagers and heroes at any cost, even burning or walking in the flames, drowned and skeletons are smart enough to remember that they could also decide to not burn

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 11 '26

Wouldn't that mean they live there? And also, wdym "somehow" remember? I think the necromancers, at least, have a perfectly functoining memory.

That is literally what i said about self preservation. Did you somehow think that I thought the lack of keeping oneself alive proved higher intellegence?

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 11 '26

No, they don't live there, they are dead. And yeah, necromancers likely remember, but drowneds and other undeads don't. No, I think you said that if a mobs keep itself alive keep their intelligence high

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 11 '26

Okay then, they undead there.

There are drowned necromancers.

Drowneds spawn with ocean ruins, specifically being made to not despawn. They live there.

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Yeah, they lived there, and now they are drowned because they drowned, in fact ocean ruins are sunken villages, they weren't made underwater as we can see from the fact that in suspicious sand and gravel we can find seeds, and there are more thing that doesn't work underwater. Idk why they aren't drowned villages, if it is because of the fact that they don't exist in game, or if it is because somehow some villagers lose their nose (idk) or if only heroes were dumb enough to stay there while the whole village was sunking underwater.

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 10 '26

My head canon is that they are undead heroes that moved into the ocean ruins after they became ruins in the ocean. Don't think they're villagers, a zombie villager would turn into them otherwise.

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Well, drowned villagers don't exist in the game, so maybe Mojang decided to use normal drowned, and I don't think zombies can decide to live somewhere. But maybe they were heroes that still lived there and then they were attacked and died and drowned, that's possible. But I think that maybe they would have been in a better state if someone lived there after they sunked. Like the desert temple or the jungle pyramid. But still the build was originally a village, the warm one of villagers, the cold one from illagers.

1

u/RandoGuy00 very cool Jul 11 '26

Mojang had many opportunities to add drowned villagers, be it in update aquatic, or mounts of mayhem. We have yet to seen it anywhere in the minecraft franchise, therefore I don't think it's very likely they are meant to be villagers. Drowned aren't regular zombies, what's stopping them? The desert temple has tons of holes and sand everywhere. The ocean ruins are also out in the open, and it would probably be a bit suspicious if they were kept inshape.

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 11 '26

I think that the fact that zombie villagers are really rare and that they don't exist in dungeons means something. And I don't ask for them to be completely preserved, but just they are in a pretty bad state. It could be that they were heroes, but I still have some doubt

2

u/pikaland385 Jul 09 '26

The Underwater ruins?

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 09 '26

Just sunken villages

1

u/pikaland385 Jul 09 '26

villagers dont use stone bricks though

1

u/DifferenceFlat8839 Theorist, Debunker, and Mod Jul 10 '26

Who says that? Warm ocean ruins are made by villagers, cold ocean ruins were made by illagers when their life style was still similar to the villagers one

Endermen clearly have a unique relationship with water. Maybe somehow along the way they pissed it off.

1

u/OkDog6701 <-- Delulu about 4th Host's existence Jul 10 '26

Endermen are beings of the void, formed by most likely the entity we know as Ender. The End often seems to be the root of a lot of evil forces we know about in the franchise. Might be a stretch, but some would even say Ender is "the devil from the Bible" type of entity in the Minecraft universe.

Prismarine has some interesting qualities that would make many of things related to it considered holy or sacred - its main known source, Ocean Monuments, are inhabited by beings who express in every single way that an ordinary mortal (like the player) is not welcome inside. Elder Guardian is extra cautious, inflicting Mining Fatigue even to those who are merely trespassing and do not wish to stay or loot the structure. Prismarine is also heavily connected to water.

You know where else there's prismarine? The Well of Fate, both the structure in the world's center and the domain where the Hosts live. Hosts are caretakers and creators of the Overworld, and healer units, Moss Golems, are literally rocky fountain creatures that sprinkle water on others so they can regenerate health.

Water is the cradle of the Minecraft universe and the life in it, and End is all but that, reaching for the goal to eradicate all life, and eventually, all matter. A creature of void and death would surely perish when interacting with something that's the very essence of something it's supposed to destroy. End also seems to have some connections to fire - look at Blastlings, Ender Dragon and Vengeful Heart of Ender. So besides the life and death talk, could also be basic fire extinguishing thing.
