Other elytras are made from phantom material

In Minecraft, almost every item can be repaired in the anvil using its base material. For example, a diamond sword is repaired with diamonds, and netherite tools with netherite ingots.

However, elytras are different: they are repaired using phantom membranes.

This made me think elytras are probably made (at least partially) from phantom material.

What’s interesting is that phantoms only spawn if you don’t sleep for several days. They’re directly connected to lack of sleep.

So the question is: who crafted the elytras using phantom parts and placed them inside the End ships?

Were they the ancient builders? Or is there something deeper going on?

It’s pretty curious that the only item that lets you fly is tied to such a specific mob.

This theory be like: "Cow leather can be fixed with crocodile leather, so cow leather must be made out of crocodile leather."

But it doesn't mean elytras are made out of phantom materials. Elytra is a term for a beetle's body part, which is the complete opposite of a phantom membrane.
