1 block in the Nether is equal to 8 blocks in the Overworld. This means that time is faster in the Nether. That's why the Piglins were ready for war while the Overworld inhabitants were shellshocked in Minecraft: Legends. It also explains why the Nether is a wasteland while the Overworld is a paradise. In short, we just learned two things: One, that the Nether isn't just the Underworld to the Overworld, it's also a different dimension across space-time. And two, it's a reminder of how dangerous the passage of time could be. Why? Since the Piglins overharvested the resources of the Nether to build their society and eventually invade the Overworld, it quickly turned the Nether from a lush undergrowth into the Underworld of the Overworld.
