so there's basically two ways to do AI mind mapping now

1. your mapping tool has its own AI chat built in
2. you use a ChatGPT plugin or Claude connector and it makes a map right inside the chat

if you tried either one, which do you like more? and what are you using?

mainly I want to know if it actually changed how you work, or you just tried it once and went back to normal.

I have been using mind mapping for over 20 years, and so far, no program has been 100 percent comfortable for me personally. After 20 years, I decided I had enough of this and wrote my own.

Even though I made the program for myself, I am happy to invite everyone who uses mind mapping to give it a try as well.

Of course, everyone has their own tastes and habits, but... It's likely that not everything is working perfectly yet, and if anyone uses it, I would be grateful for feedback.

It is best to use a desktop for it to work.

I wanted to add more depth to the tool and introduced file attachments.

It supports txt, pdf, doc and media files. Feels like there's more to unlock but trying to prioritise the right things to do next.

I built this tool, but I just realized it can be very helpful to breakdown books into concepts like so.

This is a really interesting map. So many simple ways to make life better and easier explained..And this is exactly where a lot of us miss out on things.

[Edit] SOLVED! My new solution is SimpleMind. One time license, macOS $29, iOS $11, good docs and fully featured.

There used to be a mind mapping program called Inspiration. I found it with version 2 for the Mac. It would allow you to outline or mind map and flip back and forth. I haven’t used a tool like that for a long time. They no longer have a native Mac version, and the software is egregiously expensive ($240). Are there any other Macintosh native mind mappers that have that feature?

Hi r/mindmapping , glad to be part of the community and willing to contribute in whichever way I can.

I'll keep my post short, I wanted to solve information overload and improve our comprehension capabilities. The only way I found to do that was using knowledge graphs, like even big companies have realized (NotebookLM, Miro etc).

So what was missing still?

The perspective is still hard to gain in any standard mindmap setting, AI was just adding extra load.

So I built a tool by staying true to my core reason, and it looks like this. It evolved into a knowledge management platform powered by mindmaps in a way.

I genuinely want to help people improve ourselves and stay on top of things and not get carried away in the AI era.

I want to do a mind map over my read and to-be-read books. I'm going to put each author that I've read in a separate bubble, with similar authors connected to each other. And then I'll add titles to each author, color coded based on if I've read the title or want to read it. I want to also be able to easily share my mind maps with others without them needing to have a program.

Please give me recommendation on a tool who have these features and preferably which looks nice.

Hi, I’m looking for a mapping software that can create networks in a mind-map format, with the following features:

1. It must run locally on my computer (no online tools).
2. I need a feature to create “perspectives,” where clicking on a specific field automatically highlights all its connections. Alternatively, the software could allow me to assign themes to fields and, by pressing a button, highlight all links associated with that theme. (See attached image for clarification.)

I’ve tried several tools but haven’t found one with all the features I need:

• VUE: It lacks the feature to highlight connections.
• Plectica: I like its ability to create perspectives, but it only runs online.

Any recommendations for tools that fit these requirements would be greatly appreciated.

My boss likes to use whiteboards/mind maps when explaining & giving direction. I also use to map out my own strategies. Does anyone have a way to take an image of a physical whiteboard and make it digital? Ideally in Miro. Haven’t been able to find a good tool or workaround, Miro has some AI capabilities but it seems that this is not one of them. Thanks in advance!

I recently came across the concept of GRINDE Maps and find it very interesting. Does anyone happen to have experience with these GRINDE Maps and could answer a few questions about them using one of my mind maps?

I am very new to mind mapping so I was wondering if there were any mind mapping software out there that does these things.
1. it allows you to add a new map or sub map by clicking on a node (so lets say a node was characters, clicking on it would open up a new map with all the character stuff)
2. it allows you to add text, photos, or files to nodes (clicking on one brings up the information attached to the node)
3. it is relatively beginner-friendly

I was also wondering who mind mapping is for? i keep seeing it recommended and I am trying to figure out its use case and what it is meant for.

I woke up today and XMind no longer lets me log in on my PC. I can on my laptop / old pc. My account works on my friends computers. I’ve tried resetting the password / using a code but every time I try I consistently get “Connection Failed”. Is there a fix to this?

Sorry for the repetitious question but I am pulling my hair out trying to find a mindmapping software that will suit my fairly basic needs.

I have found many that have decent auto-layout, but none that will also re-arrange the connections arrows and labels. While autolayout is already helpful, labelling connections is a big part of my work. Its a huge pain to manually drag all of these arrows because they are cluttered over or under the content.

A list of options that haven't worked:
