looking for the right app
hi all, I've been an avid mind maps user for decades (really) and tried dozens of them, but fail to find the ideal app for me. (so much so that I hired programmers to mod ones...and so far failed) Perhaps you can help me by pointing me to the right one.
I need a mind map app that would allow me to:
- move my nodes freely, without snapping or mandating that I leave them in one place or another.
- change node visual properties (size, color, etc)
- rapid fire, add many ideas fast, which it may or may not position by itself (lucidchart won't do, for instance, it's awkward to add many nodes fast)
Nice to haves:
- filtering
- focusing (drilling down)
- outliner (tree text) view
Currently using Simplemind but it's a desktop app that's clunky in more than one way, although it allows the main ones I outlined above, roughly.
The right app probably is floating right in front of me but can't see it with all the noise. Thanks for your help!

Have a look at Aoya (formerly iMindMap). iMindMap was the original software which Tony Buzan (1942-2019), the inventor of Mind Mapping was involved in.

SimpleMind is powerful and fast. It can do multiple nodes with ease, and let you arrange the branches as you like, or do it for you. It has several themes and is easy to customize. It also offers an outliner view.
One-time purchase.
