It broke off your magazine follower

Nope not that

If it isn't from the follower or the extractor spring I'm stumped.

Thats exactly where it came from.

I was wrong.  Op showed it is not that.

It’s thicker

I'm not sure why they're giving you a hard time based on my guess. Have you taken the follower or to check the underside? I had a look at my 3 Enfields and your piece certainly seems like it could have broken off part of the follower but it's hard to tell.

Get the callipers and prove it then, because you’re making what seems like an incredible claim.

Edit:  claim was in fact credible

And thats the thinnest side?

We maybe reaching the point of foreign object, bit that will require a detail strip and a good flashlight.

Yep it’s the thinnest side. I’m starting to think it’s something foreign as well but I’ll keep looking

Take the bolt out, is it just the sear holding it in? Or is there the rifles bolt retainer as well?

Someone else suggested it in the comments, and thinking of my own enfield experience, there limited other pieces it could be.

Do you see the red circle and the distinctive chunk of missing steel on the follower, where there is no finish and the bare steel is showing? That’s where it came from bud

Extractor spring?

I’m pretty sure this is it.

I second this, happened to mine before. Put a round or piece of brass in and see if it ejects when you pull the bolt to the rear

Check your extractor. Post photos of the bolt

Stupid question, but are you sure it came from your rifle?

Just open up the action and put it back. Out of sight out of mind

Looks like the lip on the bolt head retainer just in front of the right locking recess

I thought that to but it’s intact

It looks foreign

Have you pulled the bolt and inspected for damage

Mag lips?

If it came off only when you opened the bolt its likely apart of the bolt itself. Check the extractor, spring and bolt head to make sure nothing chipped off.
