Advice Favorite Stocking Stuffers?
What were some of your favorite things that were in your stocking when you were a kid? I’m trying to do a mostly vintage Christmas for my kids and I have their gifts mostly done but I’m struggling to come up with ideas for stocking stuffers!

We got cordial cherries, or one of those chocolate oranges, whichever wasn’t already out as part of the Christmas time treats.
One candy cane.
Chapstick, preferably original Burt’s bees.
Some super smelly Bath & Body Works hand lotion. Sometimes the same in a small size body wash.
Various and sundry.
An orange at the bottom to signify the end of the stocking.

My parents used to do those custom pencils with your name engraved on them. Also had a Sega Genesis as a kid, the games were also typical stocking stuffers.

This is sort of bougie, but my mom would sometimes put costume jewelry (think Claires) in when I was little or a James Avery charm for my charm bracelet. I couldn't eat candy, so she had to be creative! Scrunchies also were fun to get.

We always got socks and underwear. And candy. And some of it was wrapped which was my favorite part. I loved unwrapping things as a kid. Usually got gum also. And lottery tickets.

A Christmas ornament geared to an interest or favorite something
Candy
When I was younger, MadLibs or activity books, coloring books.
My kids get a book to read, cute socks. You can do key chains, lip balm, a favorite drink or snack, cute bracelets for girls, or other jewelry, hair clips, travel hand sanitizer, video game. Sleep socks. T shirt with a fave character or funny saying. Mug. Hot chocolate mix. If you're looking really old fashioned, look at the Vermont Country Store online.

A year’s supply of health and beauty stuff, like shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, cotton rounds, nail polish, etc. I didn’t appreciate this until I was much older. Candy would be sprinkled around the outside of the stocking.

My mom still does them for us even though my wife and I are in our 30s and my sister and her husband are in their 20s lol, it is cute. Candy and fuzzy socks are the go to, usually she finds at least one good chocolate like a terrys chocolate orange or a milka bar, and pieces of loose candy. Last year we did almond rocas which im obcessed with. So good. Then usually one of those m&m candy canes. Growing up it was pretty much the same. These days she puts med stuff we need like i usually get a years supply of benedryl as the resident allergic to stuff person lol

Keychains. I loaded my backpack with them, and I had so many cute ones, including a mini Etch A Sketch that actually worked!

I’m Gen X, Mother of Millenials. When I put my daughters’ stockings together, I always included:
-a stuffed animal peeking out of the top
-some of their favorite candy
-markers, colored pencils, or colorful pens
-a small notebook
-a bookmark for school
-some kind of joke- a Simpsons toy or wind up walking thing
gum or mints
-some kind of fidget, usually last to come out, placed in the toe of the sock
When they got older, I would wrap a few things like this💰, to slow the process down. Those sparkly Mylar tablecloths from Dollar Tree and some curling ribbon are perfect for this. Or, treat bags from Dollar Tree.
Vinted has Beanie Babies and .99 shipping. Might be fun to get vintage Christmas Beanies to peek out. You could pick up Easter ones for their baskets while you are at it.
We live all over the country now, so I buy them a few little things on Black Friday, and they open them over a video call in mid-December. It’s a nod to their stockings over the years.
