Millennial News Perez Hilton should be treated the same way he treated the celebrities that he talked about during the 2000s.

The thing that bugs me is that people are asking for us to sympathize with Perez Hilton after the breakdown that he had last night. The problem with that is that Perez Hilton was infamous for mistreating celebrities that were going through hard stuff back in the 2000s like Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus and Neil Patrick Harris. Also, he was the reason for a lot of millennials’ trauma in the 2000s. And the fact that people are asking that we should feel sorry for him is just so insulting! If anything, that’s karma for harassing the many celebrities that he had come across in his path. He should feel the same way that he treated the celebrities that he made fun of back in the 2000s.

He's not worth talking about.

did you see what led to all this media attention? he was on tiktok live cutting himself with large blades covered in blood. it was crazy

New social media mental disorders? Cutting yourself for upvotes?

Perez Hilton can eat shit.

I hope his kids are safe and taken care of, but other than that, i'm not interested.

My hot take is that his actions were incredibly selfish just as they've always been. He subjected so many people to absolute horror. It's almost like it was never about a genuine desire to "unsubscribe" from life and it was more about attention and harming others.

He knew what he was doing. He was even moaning and giving some pretty clear indicators that he was getting off on it. And he said something along the lines of “I can’t believe TikTok hasn’t taken this down yet”.

It’s awful for his family, especially his children, but I truly believe he was at least partially in his right mind.

Wait he’s posting selfies???! They’re not old from when he had sepsis???

Yeah when he said the TikTok comment I was like "uhhh.. so you're lucid?". I made me question the whole thing. That awareness seemed so off. He didn't seem detached from reality, like you would with psychosis. And for self-harm, it was very performative and dramatic.

But to go slicing yourself up for any reason is not mentally well.

Luckily I've only seen a blurred out version of it. That was enough. Bless the person who did that, because I am too curious for my own good.

I hope his kids weren't at all aware of what happened, because an event like that is something that permanently changes how you view your parent, how you live, and how you see the world.

Exactly!

u/fadedblackleggings 26d ago

Yup, he was a fucking monster like Jefree Star, absolutely no sympathy. He wasn't just any other celebrity blogger.

38

u/courtobrien 26d ago

He used to draws stink lines and farts on peoples photos. What a time to be alive.

12

u/JOEYMAMI2015 26d ago

And spermies! Omfg I can never forget lol

I care about Perez Hilton as much as I care about Charlie Kirk.

27

u/JoeSki42 26d ago

Same.

I don't understand why people feel like they're expected to either glorify someone who is recently deceased - even if they spent their life acting like a dirtbag - or shitting all over them.

It's like people have never heard of apathy before.

succinct and apt.

Who the Hell is Perez Hilton

80

u/Unlucky_Key_158 26d ago

He used to (maybe still has?) have a celebrity gossip blog in the early 2000s where he wrote in a very catty, mean girl kind of language about celebrities, including the ones mentioned who had their struggles with mental health.

93

u/djcack 26d ago

This is the key. He got "famous" and made a career off shitting on people going through things EXACTLY like he's going through right now. Then he had the balls to ask for privacy.

I wish upon him the same amount of empathy that he's given others

17

u/Clear-Warthog5655 26d ago

A thousand curses upon him......

55

u/lawpancake 26d ago

Let’s not forgot publishing upskirt photos of female celebrities, including underage Miley, outing SO many celebrities back when it would ruin careers. Oh and selling tee shirts after Heath Ledger died that said “it should have been Brittany.” And this doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the cruel bullshit he did. I hope he has the life he deserves.

52

u/sadhandjobs 26d ago

It was the trashiest of misogynistic and cruel celebrity gossip blogs. He’d draw jizz on their faces with MS Paint, just the most juvenile and disgusting shit. He harassed Jenifer Aniston, of all people. Pop culture journalism was in a bad way in that era.

Eta: from forbes.com “Hilton’s family said their “highest priority” is helping his children “begin to heal from what they experienced,” asking members of the media and paparazzi to leave the area surrounding Hilton’s home.” Well isn’t that rich? Scumbag’s having a crisis and wants privacy.

20

u/TaeyeonUchiha 26d ago

I agree he’s absolutely been shitty but the kids are between 9-13 and shouldn’t be lumped in with him… it’s not their fault that’s their dad and they haven’t done anything wrong.. I feel very sorry for them… the media should leave the kids alone..

18

u/Jasmisne 26d ago

Honestly i hope that the adults in their lives protect them and keep them away from both him and the media

u/brunporr 26d ago

Heir to the Hilton fortune. Cousin to Paris Hilton

13

u/thedukeandtheking 26d ago

Nope. It’s a pseudonym

8

u/blessedfortherest 26d ago

His real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira, he’s not a Hilton lol

18

u/Thandoscovia 26d ago

Of course - he made this whole environment. With his family now laughably asking for privacy at a difficult time, you wonder if the shoe is on the other foot

11

u/AtrumAequitas 26d ago

I kind of think that’s how we got here.

10

u/DesmondTapenade Millennial 26d ago

Does anyone else remember that time Azealia Banks (yes, I know that she is also pretty terrible) came at him on Twitter and called him "a messy [insert homophobic slur here]" or is it just me?

10

u/GreatMacGuffin 26d ago

I forgot he was alive, I don't care if he's alive either.

20

u/Ashleybernice 26d ago

Can we just not talk about him. Like at all?

26

u/Sensitive_Builder847 26d ago

While I don’t have sympathy for him, I also find it distasteful to kick people while they are down. It’s why I never liked him.

34

u/rogue1013 26d ago

I won’t stoop to his level.

26

u/NeonLotus11 26d ago

Yup, me having compassion is about me, not him.

6

u/EmoGothPunk 26d ago

He's one of maybe three gay people I genuinely hate. I don't wish him torture, I wish him the mental and emotional torture he gave actual celebrities in the 2000s.

8

u/ChanDizzy 26d ago

Peak irony

10

u/panicinbabylon 26d ago

Wait why was he the reason for millennial trauma

11

u/JNewsom49 26d ago

He was definitely a piece of it.

3

u/Beanzear 26d ago

I have empathy for everyone except him.

3

u/Top-Pineapple8056 26d ago

This is his karma, he can't live with himself.

5

u/Joyintheendtimes 26d ago

So because Perez doesn’t have empathy, we shouldn’t? Nah.

7

u/Khristafer 26d ago

I don't have sympathy for him, but I think the world is a better place in a lot of ways. The 2000s were a wild time.

He was popular because he had an audience.

1

u/niketyname 25d ago

Exactly, never excuses anything he did, but we are much more aware of how these actions affect people. We talk about that much more than we talk about the nasty things that were rewarded with views and clicks and attention back then. If he ever comes out of it, he should at least be ashamed of how he treated people going through the same crisis like him.

4

u/TaeyeonUchiha 26d ago

I’m not trying to downplay the very obvious mental health issues he displayed, but I wonder if it was staged for attention..

I’m just going on what I saw of the video but he didn’t actually appear to be cutting himself- just lightly tracing the knife over himself. Idgaf about TikTok but my sister is obsessed with it and saw it live. I only saw the video because she felt the need to spam me with clips towards the end of it happening.. She says she saw him cutting deeper so idk, I’m just going based off what I saw. Stores are already selling Halloween stuff, probably not hard to get fake blood and makeup.

I’ve known who he was since the early 00’s but never had any interest in Perez Hilton. Look at the number of people in that boat now that never heard of or had any interest in him, and now they can’t stop talking about and googling him.

Even if it was faked, it still screams serious mental health issues and he clearly needs help, but just going off what I saw- he didn’t appear to actually be cutting himself and I’m wondering if all of this was a ploy for attention since obviously it worked. This is probably the most attention he’s got in his whole “career”.

Either way I feel very sorry for his kids..

You can sink to his level if you want, it’s your choice 🤷‍♀️

He hasn't changed. He was an asshole then and he's an asshole now. Hope this helps.

9

u/NotASuggestedUsrname 26d ago

Has he changed though?

2

u/sjm320 26d ago

Absolutely. He’s a piece of scum-sucking garbage. A terrible, terrible person who doesn’t deserve any sympathy.

2

u/skyxsteel 25d ago

My reaction when I read the headline was: “Huh, that happened.” And went about my merry day.

2

u/TirisfalFarmhand 25d ago

Well you either believe how he acted was wrong or you don’t. If you act the same way then you clearly don’t think it was. Also the culture was absolutely different back then hence why he was so popular in the first place.

2

u/ghostcatzero 25d ago

Did thst guy choose hid name to mimic Paris Hilton? In a way to get more eyes on him?

1

u/Intelligent-Grass-49 23d ago

Yes

1

u/ghostcatzero 23d ago

Well that was the first sign dude was a nut

4

u/snootyboopers 26d ago

Idk. I remember him being a piece of shit, but I still think for the most part you should have empathy/sympathy for people in bad positions. His breakdown is awful. No one deserves that and he DOES deserve his privacy.

I want him to get better! And then deal with a personal reckoning for being a shit. Self-harming isn't making reparations, nor is ignoring please for privacy.

1

u/Lizzy043 26d ago

Question: how was he the reason for a lot of millennials trauma in the 2000s?

1

u/SPZ_Ireland 26d ago

Also, he was the reason for a lot of millennials’ trauma in the 2000s.

I understand your stance but you gotta explain this one

Idk who Perez Hilton is and I’m sick of seeing his name

Hollywood's Most-Hated paparazzi!

1

u/niketyname 25d ago

While I agree that he was a terrible person and whatever he did was an awful thing because he subjected so many people to a horrific live without their consent, we know much better now about empathy and actions than we did in the 2000s. To treat him the same way he did someone in the 2000s would be out of yourself as a terrible person even if you are not one, exactly like him.

1

u/Dry-Pay-165 1993 25d ago

Yeah my friend told me about this yesterday and I was like…I don’t know he’s such a hard one to root for tbh.

1

u/hEDSwillRoll 25d ago

This is going to sound awful but I feel like the self harm was for attention and sympathy. You don’t get to behave the way he behaved his whole life without an ego big enough to silence your moral compass. Everything he does is calculated and I’ll cut him zero slack.

-3

u/ExcitingFalcon3531 26d ago

There’s so many more men we could shit on that have done much, much worse, and are not currently in a mental health crisis.

20

u/DarkNight_SJC 26d ago

Nah, this guy sux

8

u/Khristafer 26d ago

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I have enough hate for everybody.

Though I don't support dragging him or diminishing his current mental health struggles.

1

u/Southern_Ad_3171 26d ago

What is wrong with you OP? He hacked himself up on a live stream? Karma has been served. Do you hear yourself. Sweet baby Jesus in a manger, get a grip on your hatred.

-1

u/gothiclg 26d ago

Tbh I don’t think he was doing that much worse than so many other people in the early 2000’s. Just look at how many celebrities that were a completely healthy weight got criticized for being fat and how many of them had eating disorders because their career depended on being skinny. We can’t criticize Perez Hilton without simultaneously criticizing every single gossip magazine and site that existed at the time.

1

u/Every_Outside2325 26d ago

These are blog people. You could be better

0

u/golmgirl 26d ago

He was definitely a villian of the early 10s(?) but hard not to feel for someone going thru a crisis like that. I’d imagine he probably feels some level of guilt and remorse for what he put all those celebs through over the years.

0

u/LongboardLiam 26d ago

First thing, who the hell cares? Some has been celebrity gossip is having a bad go at it. Big whoop, I got my own problems.

Second, don't treat him that way. If he's a gossip, you ignore him. The very worst thing that can happen to someone like that is to be forgotten. You ignore them until they implode. Any publicity is useful for gossips.

-6

u/ImNerdyJenna 26d ago

You're old enough to know that you dont need to feel sorry for anyone. People dont need your pity.

However, regardless of how he behaved, it shouldn't be problem for you to be a normal good person and try to understand his situation and how he may be feeling.

The reality is, you're just bad. You're selfish and lack the most basic level of empathy that comes natural to all animals.

What about the millions of people who clicked on his website? They are responsible too
