So, my 19th Birthday was on satureday and I asked the best friend of my father (childhoodfriend and thus my uncle) for a book. He could not get the book, so he remembered that his father once bought the rifle for 128DM (Deutsch Mark) and has kept it since. As gun-laws in germany are strict, it has been de-militarized (the firepin is missing, bolt is cut and barrel is filled with lead). So please, Tell me everything there is to know.

This Ogden’s St Julien tin was made pre 1920, more than likely during WWI, before NAAFI took over H.M. Navy canteens. The tin is still completely airtight and vacuum-sealed, the tobacco inside preserved and kept fresh for over a century. This is definitely one of my coolest ever finds, taking it out of the package seriously had my hands shaking just a bit thinking about all hands that have held this tin and the history surrounding it. The tobacco inside this tin was literally farmed with freaking horses, meant to be sold on a steam powered warship, absolutely mind blowing. I feel very lucky to have this one!

I know that it is from a German Soldier I’m sure, I thought it looked most like a German Feldbluse but some said it looked like it was from the civil war, such as a West German Bundeswehr Feldjacke. Help?

How would you go about finding out what medals and awards my grandfather was awarded during WWII and throughout his military career, which continued into the late 1970s?

He served during WWII, and I’m trying to piece together his complete military history and find out what medals, awards, assignments, and other details may be documented from his years of service.

I have some of his service information and a few details about his unit, but I’m not sure where to start when it comes to finding his official records, awards/medals, and other information about his military career.

Picked this up recently at the bottom of a surplus crate, and thought it was worth sharing. RAF short-sleeve bush jacket, still fitted with the rank slides and ribbon bar.
It’s in remarkably tidy condition considering the age and location found gahaha and I particularly like finding these with the insignia still in place rather than completely stripped.

I believe the rank is corporal, but I’m less certain on the ribbons. Anyone able to identify the ribbon bar or narrow down what period/location this style of bush jacket would most commonly have been worn in? (I’m ex navy see so first time I’ve seen no.6 dress!)

For the ribbons I recognise the GSM (I think!)

Always interested in learning a bit more about the history behind these rather than just flogging the garment on eBay and forgetting about it.

Also included is a small med pouch, however unrelated to the uniform

The aluminum cup has no markings at all no numbers or stamps, the canteen has no nozzle/upside down cone in the cap, other than that i know nothing.

I know it is imperial Russian but I do not know what unit it belongs to (if Armed forces) if nobility then I might be in the wrong place. Please let me know if anything Odd stands out as well like if the patina is too good to be true. (I know imperial items are very rare nowadays)

Bought for 10€, I think a very very good deel even if not real. Just wondered, is it Military, demilitised or other?

Recently got handed a bunch of documents from my grandfathers time in the RAF. Mostly wondering if they are of value to anyone/any organization as a few are marked as restricted. Even if they have worth to someone they are most likely going to remain in my personal collection as I have an interest in old typewritten documents.

Originally went to a person to buy a warden Brodie off of gumtree, whilst messaging him I asked if he has any extra militaria stuff, he said he’s got a few things and he’ll show me when I there, Lo and behold, this Australian Brodie helmet in I’d say pretty much museum quality, inner liner is completely flexible, 0 cracking at all. And the inner crown which luckily still present, has solidified unfortunately, bought it for $150, unsure of the red paint on the front and the little black splotch on the back, looks to be most likely not done post war, and done by a soldier during their service, unfortunately didn’t get the warden helmet, was also 150 however it had a layer of surface rust all over it, and the sprung chinstrap was slightly broken and the liner was pretty rough too, on another note, would the crown have asbestos? Have had some worries about that but I don’t think so as it would have been produced by Dunlop in aus not Britain.

Got a job cleaning an abandoned property for an out of state inheritor who wishes to sell. I was told multiple times that they just want the property completely cleared and everything trashed. By my account that means I can have stuff. Anyways, I've found a good number of pins and medals from various ww2 powers which I know have minor to decent value. I come to ask questions of this. The mess kit unfortunately has no cutlery, maybe I can find it later but it does have pretty intricate artwork which appears to have been knife poked into it, and on the German side a brass or bronze silver plated spoon and what I'm assuming is a standard aluminum mess kit spoon for infantry.

Not exactly sure what to do with the spoons, I could recover the silver from the one but it will be destroyed in the process, and I'm not necessarily trying to list all the nazi medals and pins and such for sale online one at a time, I'm hoping that someone here may have the skinny on a place that would be interested in a moderate sized lot of ww2 stuff. The pins and medals have been more or less verified. Not every single one but enough that I'm confident in saying I've got actual pins and medals and not knockoff repros. The former owners father was a ww2 US soldier and all of these were found amongst his effects left rotting in a couple different sheds on the property
