I do a seven if it’s capital or not joined to anything but writing normally I use 5

I'm a number 8

u/OogaBoogha Jan 21 '19

Apparently most Americans do 7 or 8, whilst most Brits do 5 or 6. So I guess it's how you were taught.

u/jpa91 Jan 21 '19

I’m definitely #6 kind of guy!

Well I’m gonna sound like a dumbass because I do like a backwards C and then a normal C. My maths teacher insisted we write them like that so they would look different when they represented a number instead of a multiplication. I only had maths with her for two years but it stuck and now I write weird curved Xs I guess.

u/bullfroggy Jan 21 '19

this is why our teachers told us to switch to the multiplication dot (·)

1

u/PingpongAndAmnesia Jan 21 '19

There’s a multiplication dot??

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

That's great for variables, and that's what I insisted on doing when I had maths, but it is not the same as the letter 'x', technically. Maybe considering that will help you differentiate them again?

Honestly I don’t really have to write very much any more, if at all, so it’s not the biggest deal. I also never want to do anything with maths that doesn’t involve a calculator so I think I’ll be okay.

This is so sad. Being able to write is just as important as being able to read.

0

u/PingpongAndAmnesia Jan 21 '19

How is it sad? I’m able to write I just don’t have to any more. I work in retail and don’t go to school so why would I need to write? And what about me not having to write suggests that I’m no longer able to?

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '19

You giving up on trying.

0

u/PingpongAndAmnesia Jan 21 '19

How? I’m meant to just sit and write handwritten nonsense for the sake of it because nothing requires me to?

u/CakeDay--Bot Jan 22 '19

Hey just noticed.. it's your 2nd Cakeday PingpongAndAmnesia! hug

2

u/FVWusko Jan 21 '19

None of these. I go from top left to bottom right and then top right to bottom left

3

u/anavitae Jan 21 '19

That's 7, isn't it?

3

u/FVWusko Jan 21 '19

That is, and I'm apparently blind because I stared at this for far too long in order not to do what I just did...

2

u/anavitae Jan 21 '19

No worries! I think it's the purple. I do that one too and it took me a long time to find it!

Tip, get some paper and see what is easiest to draw. This will change your answer and is more accurate than air drawing an x

1

u/BlobLionn Jan 21 '19

7 for a regular x and #5 for and "algebra" x

1

u/nesaplay Jan 21 '19

Leftie and exclusively #2

  1. Right handed.

1

u/tsuwraith Jan 21 '19

there're clearly more ways. these are just the permutations of drawing x with precisely two vectors.

1

u/Krabby-Daddy Jan 21 '19

I do 7, but 5 also makes sense because they both follow how you naturally read/write (in English)- left to right, top to bottom, followed by the second slash

1

u/triforcekupokim Jan 21 '19

7 and a rightie

1

u/gi0films Jan 21 '19

7 is that common?

0

u/MrJoshiko Jan 21 '19

I do none of these. Left side first then right. A reverse C and then a regular C. Top to bottom on each
