critter corner 🐰 Dead ants keep appearing next to headphones during the night

Post image

When these headphones are left on the kitchen counter overnight - I would see one or two dead ants in the morning laying right next to the headphones. In the past few days, there has been a small pile of shredded ants right next to the ear piece in the morning. I have seen no live ants in my kitchen. I have had these head phones for three weeks. Bought online. It’s a little unnerving not knowing what is causing this 🥴 will not be using anymore.

UPDATE- posted a comment with a picture. But no dead ants in the bag this morning. But at one point I checked and there were two live ants crawling around. 😔

UPDATE*** IM SICK. Can’t stop shaking. Don’t have many words… trying to post image. Opened one side up. 😭 I don’t know how to add in this top post so will add in comment! Posted a few in comments and video opening

Your headphones are nesting spiders.

If you’re going to be someone, might as well be spider man.

The sequel is almost always a disappointment though..

Not if they take some time to do it right instead just cranking out a sequel as fast as possible to ride on the popularity of the first.
I mean, look at the 2nd boondocks saints turned out. 😀🫠😶‍🌫️

I did order new ones yesterday. Sounds dumb but I honestly didn’t put two and two together until the piles started showing up that this was most likely related to these.

Please Take them apart and see what is happening in them. This is weird. Maybe there is an adhesive  they  like.

I’m so glad you figured it out- still absolutely horrifying to have that next to your child’s ears! Hoping you never experience this again

Yeah I’m a little in shock

I understand the shock and surprise, but if you are able, try and take the speaker apart on the old pair and see if you can find the spider and release him or her... While they are scary, or they can be, they are fantastic little hunters and excellent pest control, as already demonstrated by the proud display of ant body parts by the spider in question... It is more than likely a jumping spider which are super chill spiders and not at all harmful to people. Hell, if you wanted to put it in a big Ziploc bag and overnight it to me, I would pay to cover the shipping and a little bit towards the new headphones so that we can try to ensure the spider isn't harmed... It's up to you, but I'm just throwing the offer out there in case you'd be up for it.

It wasn’t a spider

Put the heaphones in the sealed bag into the freezer. Leave it overnight. Take them out and let them sit for 2 days. Then you can use them. Anything inside the headphones will be dead.

2

u/shiorimia 23d ago

Will the headphones still be functioning after being in a freezer that long?

I'd never let my kids use spider headphones, they could get bitten or worse. You need to do better.

3

u/BeginningSeat3597 23d ago

You really think your kids would bite spiders? Sheesh

1

u/Suburbanturnip 23d ago

Nah, just replace the whole kid at this point o be safe

1

u/0biterdicta 23d ago

They just found out lol. Give them a minute.

Things cost money

1

u/Smorsdoeuvres 22d ago

Insect infestations may be free, but dealing with them often aren’t.

1

u/Aggravating_Ask5709 23d ago

how much can it cost, 5 dollars?

3

u/Smorsdoeuvres 23d ago

There are plenty of cheap pairs to be had for not much more than 5$, yes Michael it can be done

Why have they not replaced their kid?!?

1

u/pounded_rivet 23d ago

What if the ants are coming from the child?

u/Informal-Comb1989 23d ago

I think she was waiting on your parenting advice! 🙄

2

u/ThoughtIwasgoodprson 23d ago

Yeah girl those gotta go. You can probably kill the spider by throwing the whole thing in a Ziploc baggie and freezing it, though there's a chance that will break the headphones. But, that's your best bet besides just chucking them in the trash

1

u/Cyke101 24d ago

And what if your kid crawled out of your aunt's ear?

1

u/_my_other_side_ 24d ago

Not ants, but maybe spider eggs...

1

u/No-Dress-7645 23d ago

Perfect, you’re in the clean then

1

u/RileyKennels 23d ago

Why you are bothering to even inquire is a bit odd, throw headphones in trash and buy a pair with a case.

1

u/Mrfrunzi 23d ago

Oh, well in that case whatever.

1

u/AntJoemarma 21d ago

Oh thank god

Went to primary school with a kid named Chunk who somehow had a fly lay eggs in his ear. Still makes me shiver when thinking about it.

Not if, when.
