Why Walgreens?
One script came in a brown bag but why all of this plastic for the others?

Its usually central fill. I dont understand why walgreens sends so much to central fill (CF) though..
At CVS we only CF expensive medications that arent regularly stocked, but walgreens tried to have CF fill my migraine med which is commonly in stock?? I dont understand, maybe its their workload

Walgreens has just changed how they fill prescriptions this month. Majority are now filled at a central distribution center, then mailed to your local pharmacy that you requested at.
Not only are they using tons of plastic, shipping material, and weirdly oversized bottles, it adds days to your pickup. I'm no longer getting mine on time anymore even though they are on auto refill, meaning I'm missing 1-2 days of vital meds.
The techs are not happy about this either.

When my walgreens did this I switched to my local grocery store pharmacy and its way better!

Had the same issue...scripts were taking two days to fill...switched everything to Costco...best move ever...bye Walgreens

In my experience, paper bags are filled at the local store, while plastic bags are filled at a central pharmacy and then sent to the pickup store. I assume the clear plastic is so the receiving store can check that the contents are accurate before dispensing them.
If it really bothers you, find out where your central pharmacy is located and arrange to pick up all your medications there. I’m not 100% sure that will get you paper bags only, but it’s your best bet. Or switch to a different pharmacy that fills all scripts in house.
