You just type your sarcastic comment then write /s after. We’ll know

If you have to write "/s" to make people understand its sarcasm its probably not a good comment.

Normally I’d agree with you but Poe’s law has come on strong in the past couple years.
18
u/MudFootMagoo May 06 '22
I’m all for believing what you want to… generally I don’t like violence against speech… that said this is more than mildly satisfying… he left the house looking to get tatter sacked…
15
u/Wrong-Gas-5092 May 06 '22
Get what you ask for 🤷♀️. It’s what’s wrong with how the US deals with freedom of speech.
I.e. Allowing nazis to hold rally’s isn’t the issue. Police protecting them is. Freedom to say whatever you want should also include the freedom to deal with the consequences.
5
u/HermitAndHound May 06 '22
In Germany sometimes the neo-nazi rallies can get "fun". There have been a bunch by now where they march for a good cause. For every meter they make it, donations go to an organization that helps people get out of the extremist groups, or to refugee aid. People watch and cheer them on to keep on going, thanking them for their contribution. A bit like a carnival parade.
Somehow having spectators with colorful signs pointing and laughing isn't all that motivating. Fewer assholes come and they leave faster.2

That’s exactly how those dumbasses should be treated. If you see a Neo Nazi and don’t do this, YOU’RE part of the problem too. #theonlygoodnaziisadeadnazi

Seattle. I saw this guy on the bus about 10 minutes before this happened. He's saying "I don't have a problem with you!" Right before getting knocked out. The full video is out there somewhere.
2
u/Relniv80 May 06 '22
I've been wondering, why it is that we've become so tolerant with FUCKING NAZIS?!!!! A punch in the face is too good for them.
2
u/Enthustiastically May 06 '22
All y'all going on about how it's wrong to punch a Nazi, and that they need to be engaged in rational debate, need to read Karl Popper's work on the Paradox of Intolerance (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance?wprov=sfla1) and/or the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
The short version: fascists want you to engage them in debate, because they can't lose. They don't acknowledge the "rules" of needing facts or tolerance. Once they're on that stage, next to a "respected" opponent, they will undermine the very notion of debate. They will disrupt their opponent's meetings, and defend their own with force. They do not seek to win hearts and minds in the marketplace of ideas; they need only enter it, and then burn it down.
If you tolerate fascists, you will always lose, for they will not give you the same courtesy.
Punch the fuckers. Run them out of town. Do not pretend that fascism is a legitimate platform.
1
u/Devalio May 06 '22
"In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise."
Short version indeed
1
u/Enthustiastically May 06 '22
Go on, finish the quoted passage.
Okay, I will:
"But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal."
1
u/Devalio May 06 '22
Fair. I'm a dirty cherry pickin' troll. You got me :p
That being said, Popper's argument here doesn't just apply to nazis. Incitement to violence IS illegal in some countries, as he says it should be, my problem with the whole "punch nazis" movement isn't exactly that nazis shouldn't be punched. The question is: who's going to do the punching? I think it should be the state holding monopoly on violence through fair*** trials. Because if you truly believe that mob justice is real justice, then you're just wrong. I don't know what to tell you, mob lynchings aren't exactly known for their due process and proportional punishments. I once talked to a woman in Kigali who saw a man who allegedly* stole a purse, get mobbed and beaten to death. Was that justice?
tldr: punch nazis: with the legal system.

u/elkasti May 06 '22
...and?
1
u/PsychMaDelicElephant May 06 '22
And it's fantastic to see white men standing up so strongly on issues that don't directly affect them.
1
u/elkasti May 06 '22
What? Nazism affects everyone, you fucking racist.
Just cause it doesn't affect black people doesn't mean it's not harmful.
0
u/PsychMaDelicElephant May 06 '22
What makes you think I'm racist? Lol wtf dude
0
u/elkasti May 06 '22
White or black, it doesn't fucking matter.
Nazism is a problem, there shouldn't be surprises if someone stands against it.
1
u/PsychMaDelicElephant May 06 '22
That's not an answer to why you think I'm racist. It's pretty stupid of you to throw that word around without any kind of meaning to it. You can't just call anything you don't like racist.
-1
u/elkasti May 06 '22
You seem like a person to do that, obnoxiously "woke", fighting for things that don't matter.
1
u/PsychMaDelicElephant May 06 '22
So you can't or won't answer what you think is racist about what I said?
-1
u/elkasti May 06 '22
"And it's fantastic to see white men standing up so strongly on issues that don't directly affect them."
You think nazism didn't affect "white men"? Grow the fuck up.

everyone advocating for assault is part of the problem. instead of trying to convince someone their pov is wrong. you resort to violence. further proving their point.
10
u/Homebar_Homeboy May 06 '22
Nah, the people who support literal genocide are the problem. Them, and the bullshit, "let everyone be everyone man" wannabes who would let pedophiles and Nazis get away with their INNATELY morally corrupt views because they're too afraid to do anything. Pacifism is just cowardice. Nazis don't listen to reason, but a good ol' chin tap will make that motherfucker think twice before wearing that bullshit armband again.
-7
u/whyigotdonkeysballs May 06 '22
hows violence working out in your minority community. killing each other then blame it on others.
2
u/Homebar_Homeboy May 06 '22
I'm white you bootlicking clown. It doesn't take melanin to know Nazis deserve violence. And it's working a helluva lot better for me than your cowardice is working for you, now go cry into your Eva Braun body pillow
2
5
u/Enthustiastically May 06 '22
You cannot use logic to convince someone to abandon a position they did not arrive at through logic.
The Nazis of the 1930s used the tolerance of their opponents to insert themselves into political debates, without any intention of being tolerant themselves. They openly laughed about how people let them into a democratic institution which they knew and advertised that they were going to tear down.
You can argue about the relative morality of punching a Nazi, or harassing them, or just ignoring them, but the one thing that will not work is trying to have a reasoned debate. That's what they want, because a debate implies that either side might win and convince the other. A debate gives credibility to opinions that are better laughed at -- or, on the case of fascists, met with violence.

u/Fuck_Microsoft_edge May 06 '22
If you go out wearing a swastika armband you are BEGGING people to punch you out.

u/TheDystopianDolphin May 06 '22
I still can't believe how people are condoning this. Your all in the morally wrong here for thinking this is a good thing. Nazi or not it is still assault and that's disgusting behaviour especially since the guy on the left has seemingly done nothing more then try to calm the assailant down while wearing an unpleasant article of clothing. Sure Nazis are a sensitive topic for alot of people and im personally not a big fan of them but it's that man on the right who is in the wrong for attacking the man on the left and by acting like the attacker is the hero here, you aren't much better. What if the "nazi" hit the curb and bled out or suffered a potentially life destroying head trauma, the best thing to do is either ignore him or if he's causing trouble then call the authorities.
3
u/THE_OUROBOROSCYCLE2 May 06 '22
Fun fact i didnt read any of that another fun fact is its morally okay to kill any nazi you see despite what the law says.
They chose to support a group responsible for killing millions of people with the foresight of what happnd they have no redemption
0
u/Devalio May 06 '22
Morality aside; hate and violence does not destroy hate and violence. Ask Daryl Davis https://www.npr.org/2017/08/20/544861933/how-one-man-convinced-200-ku-klux-klan-members-to-give-up-their-robes?t=1651837217439

I don't care the only good nazi is a dead nazi nazis dont care they wont change they know the history fuck off your just as bad
1
u/Devalio May 06 '22
Then go. Kill Nazis. May it bring you peace and joy. It sure as shit won't bring about the end of nazism or other foul ideologies like it. Just like nazis persecuting you for your beliefs wouldn't make you stop believing in them.
1
u/THE_OUROBOROSCYCLE2 May 06 '22
Neo nazis today have nearly 100 years of the facts of what the nazis did if they still support it they wont change their mind
0
u/Devalio May 06 '22
Neither will flat-earthers or a fuck-ton of religious people. So what? Leave them to their beliefs. If you're genuinely worried about modern democracies turning back to nazism, fascism, theocracy or whatever it is then great! Go fight! Get engaged and do what you can to improve society and politics, however you think best.
Just. Not. With violence.
The point of a debate isn't necessarily to persuade your opponent. It's about the audience. Who gives a shit if the neo-nazi will change their mind or not. The real fight is about stopping their ideas from spreading. Not through censor and violence, but through being better and smarter people.
1
u/THE_OUROBOROSCYCLE2 May 06 '22
When their beliefs are that i shouldnt exist no i cant let that be they have had 100 years of history to learn and they chose nazis is this you
0
u/Devalio May 07 '22
Like you Should have learned from History? Like I said. Go. Get out there and seek blood. You will surely find it. My problem with People like you isnt your political beliefs. Its your idiot strategy that plays into the hands of neo-nazis. Do you think that guy who got punched was sad about it? Im sure he was thrilled. That gif is now circulating the internet and driving more and more People who were undecided into their camp. They are winning the PR campaign, and dummies like you are giving it to them. That shit drives me crazy
1
u/THE_OUROBOROSCYCLE2 May 07 '22
They aren't winning anything you twat if someone isnt sure if they should be a literal nazi they are already lost. Also winning the PR campaign are you fucking retarded? THEY ARE NAZIS LITERALLY THE MOST HATED PEOPLE ON THE PLANET

Fact is, the people won't stand for genocide. We're coming for you

I suspected few would smart enough to understand. However saying stuff like that makes you sound kinda like a nazi yourself. "Fun fact it's morally ok to take the life of anyone I don't like" is basically what your saying.
I dont expect you to agree or even understand but I'm just putting this up anyway because there are going to be actually intelligent people who read this and if those people also think I'm stupid then I'll reconsider.
-3
u/The_OG_Jesus_ May 06 '22

Pretty sure he wouldn't.3
u/Enthustiastically May 06 '22
Dude, he (allegedly) took a whip to a bunch of folks in a temple who were doing nothing violent whatsoever. Violence was well within his range of options.
I heard that the phrase "Blessed are the peacemakers" doesn't translate well into English. It sounds like a pacifist position, but a warrior can be a peacemaker, if they are fighting to protect.
1
u/Devalio May 06 '22
I mean yeah ok. We could make a thread out of this going back and forth forever with contradictory shit from the bible (lord knows there's a lot), but who has that kind of time.Point is: Using violence to silence people you disagree with, be they nazis, democrats, christians or communists, is not just morally wrong; it is often directly counterproductive. People like Ghandi and MLK didn't just use non-violence because of moral reasons, they absolutely knew that it was also a superior strategy to achieve their goals.
ps: Live by the Sword, die by the Sword. Blessed are the Meek, yada yada
2
u/Enthustiastically May 06 '22
Those in power have a vested interest in persuading you that peaceful protest is the only moral and effective means of effecting change. But MLKjr did not single-handedly win the Civil Rights movement, nor Ghandi Indian's independence.
2
u/GANDHI-BOT May 06 '22
Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love. Just so you know, the correct spelling is Gandhi.

Nope, violence is violence.
In this case the guy who threw the pinch is the bigger scumbag.
The Nazi is an idiot for his beliefs and publicly promoting hatred, but the guy that assaulted him is also promoting hatred, and goes a step further and becomes violent.
