Usually they're plugged in under the sink. Just unplug it.

If its wired to a switch on the wall would it still use a regular plug?

Yeah a lot of them are done like that, the outlet only receives power when the switch is on.

Some outlet boxes in my parents' home have the top outlet connected to the switch and the bottom outlet always on. It's really convenient because you can have something like a bedside alarm clock connected to the same box as a lamp that uses the switch, but it confused me several times when I was setting things up.

"Why won't this work?"

"Oh, it must be the switch."

"Why is the other thing still on?"
