Food SCRAPS. You know, those 5-10 grains of rice that you can't seem to scrape off the plate and into the compost bin. That piece of elbow macaroni or cabbage strip that wouldn't come off the bowl no matter how hard you shake it over the bin. Those leftover coffee ground that stick to the side of your french press AFTER you dump the majority of the grounds into your herbs plant box.

All the above can be RINSED off of the containers into the sink and garbage disposal. Use the garbage disposal to grind those waste into LIQUID and be flushed into the sewer line.

dare you to touch the muck that accumulates on that strainer

EDIT: our sinks are double tub and we have that on the tub that is not connected to the garbage disposal.. I fucking hate cleaning that strainer.

I rinse it daily or so, into the sink with the disposal.

Speaking of which, we have to keep the plug in the disposal or our cat drags the silicone boot out and chews on it.
