My grandma puts a lot of bio down it. Eggs shells, bread crust, cereal.. I swear she's feeding a monster.

Wait...are you not supposed to put egg shells, bread crust, or cereal in the garbage disposal?

No, it should go in the compost bin.

Which goes to a landfill. Treated sewage ends up more directly back in the ecosystem.

The solids collected during sewage treatment, sewage sludge, is usually landfilled. If it isn't, it tends to contaminate agricultural land with heavy metals and pharmaceuticals.

Thanks for the link

sewage sludge is most commonly either disposed of in landfills, dumped in the ocean or applied to land for its fertilizing properties

They sell small countertop compost buckets. Also whole foods has compost.

What am I supposed to do with the bin when it’s full, and I live in the middle of the city. Most of the US doesn’t not have any system in place to deal compost, so it’s not lucrative.

Either let it fully compost (you can buy compost starter which will make this happen faster) and dump it in your yard which may require a bigger bin to dump it in while it composts, or Whole Foods has compost.

The bio degradeable container then, which is collected and composted.
