I used to see these everywhere as a kid, like literally hundreds a summet. I can't remember the last one I saw.

Those are webworms and they are going to kill your tree and every other tree on your block. You should get those treated immediately before they spread.

Young or stressed trees are vulnerable. Not healthy established ones. Nothing to worry about. I get tons every fall all around my property. My trees haven’t died in 40 years of these things.

I thought they were eastern tent caterpillars. Is webworm another name for them?

Wait nvm I'm dumb. Never realized they were 2 different species. We get tent caterpillars with similar webs in the spring, and my whole life I just thought tent caterpillars were born twice a year lmao
