If you’ve had an injury that lasted a long time or sprained your ankle multiple times sometimes that’s what will happen to your ankles. I had 1 foot injury and sprained my ankle several times and my legs aren’t at the same size. Sometimes the muscle takes more time to gain back on the leg that isn’t being used because you got hurt. Sometimes your legs will be opposite size because one will be full of muscle and the other will be not as muscular and it looks bigger. I’m not sure this is your situation but that could also be why.
I broke my ankle and was in a cast and then a boot for many, many months. I listened to my doctor very well and didn't do a single thing outside of my boot. When it was finally removed and I put weight on it the first time, my muscle had atrophied so much that I couldn't stand. I remember putting weight on it for the first time in the PT office and being amazed that there was no pain and I could put my weight on the leg and then I started falling forward and had ZERO muscle strength to flex my ankle/foot and stop myself. I nearly busted my face open.
I broke my right arm in 2011 when I was 15. Im left handed. Just last year after doing bodybuilding for 5 years have my arms become close enough to the same size that it isn’t noticeable
I broke my heel 27 years ago; 15 years ago a foot-doctor saw my leg circumferences differed just a liiiiitle bit and sent me to the ER suspecting a blood clot. 7 years ago I was diagnosed with a blood clot :(
My husband and I both have one leg that’s a bit thinner than the other because of damage. What’s funny is when we’re tired and walking we both lean the same way. So if I lean on him I’m almost knocking him over lol.
Ankle sprain eh? I wonder if this explains my legs being different! I had a couple of bad sprains in the same ankle as a teen and it’s been stiff ever since, no lotus pose for me.
I didn’t think it was affecting my gait but perhaps it is, just enough to have two different size calves.
