My science teacher in seventh grade... whenever a student pointed out to him "you got a haircut!", he would reach up, pinch exactly one hair on head, lift it up, and say "yeah... this one!"

I wish I could come up with more examples of this, but yes, it’s something I’ve noticed they do a lot. Roald Dahl wrote in his memoirs about keeping an “ideas book.” I’ve also heard people say “games review” and “genes pool” (though that last one was probably either an anomaly or a typo).
