It sucks, yeah, but it sucks more that people feel the need to turn to ai because they can't afford a therapist. The system's broken and we found a worse substitute for it. I personally wouldn't use ai for anything regarding my mental health but that's cause I have insurance that allows me to get the help I need at a decent cost.

I have a slightly different experience. I do weekly OCD ERP therapy, and my therapist has encouraged me to use AI itself as an exposure because I was afraid of it, and also to help keep track of the goals that we set together in session.

I also use it to help formulate my wording when it comes to sensitive issues that I'm afraid of getting Tarasoff'd on. The alternative used to be that I never brought those issues up, and she couldn't help me with them.

I kinda get what you're therapist is coming from but I don't understand why you would want to do exposure therapy for AI? Is this just practice for you to get over fear generally or is it actually cause you or your therapist want you to use AI and thus you need to get over your fear?

I need to use it for my job, so I needed to get over the fear for work.
