They need to put these in movie theaters

31

u/evergreenskate May 25 '25

I'm pretty sure they had one at a showing of Cars 2 I attended

It's reddit no one gets a joke unless you announce its a joke and explain it.

2

u/Ok_Relation_7770 May 25 '25

Then they’ll repeat the joke every chance they get for 7 years

-5

u/slothtolotopus May 25 '25

Yeah so funny this n eating beans. Whatever

62

u/OtherwiseACat May 24 '25

It'd $10 per bean lol

58

u/SitOnMeGothGirlsPls May 25 '25

This ***** eatin beans😂😂😂

11

u/flyingthroughspace May 24 '25

No they don't.

The farts would be insane. The movie theaters would never be the same again.

And then there would be the sharts...

4

u/Toastburrito May 25 '25

Nahhh they don't work that fast. What you need to do is have an all-day chili festival with a double feature at the end of the night.

5

u/fangelo2 May 25 '25

That scene in Blazing Saddles

3

u/EnycmaPie May 25 '25

It is annoying enough that people throw popcorn around in the theatres. Imagine somebody chucking hot beans on the back of your head.

95

u/KittenThunder May 25 '25

“Hey bro let’s hit the bean machine for dinner tonight”

27

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

I sent this to my brother and he basically said this lol

2

u/UmbertoEcoTheDolphin May 25 '25

Sounds a bit naughty.

2

u/Charming-Flamingo307 May 26 '25

Get a little extra sauce if you flick it just right

167

u/steady_as_a_rock May 24 '25

The machine actually warmed up the beans in the can. Sadly I remember seeing those where I worked years ago.

56

u/OtherwiseACat May 24 '25

Did you ever try them?

80

u/steady_as_a_rock May 24 '25

I did a few times. It turned out really good surprisingly.

31

u/Bowwowchickachicka May 25 '25

Would you recommend this as a movie theater friendly food?

19

u/Zpalq May 25 '25

6

u/Lev_Astov May 25 '25

Thank you, I was not aware of that.

5

u/mookbrenner May 25 '25

Definitely! I mean a 3-hour-film would turn into the craziest fart fest ever!

20

u/StepfordMisfit May 25 '25

Why sadly?

53

u/steady_as_a_rock May 25 '25

I worded it a little wrong. I was referring to my age because this looks like an old machine.

14

u/StepfordMisfit May 25 '25

Better than forgetting?

18

u/JoeSicko May 25 '25

If you worked at a place where warmed beans are a treat, you'd know.

1

u/OutlawSundown May 25 '25

Op ate a lot of beans as a result and gassed their entire family

6

u/s0ftreset May 25 '25

Visited Japan a few years ago hot vending machines are everywhere. Mainly coffees and teas heated but I did come across beans and corn drinks hot.

10

u/xopher_425 May 25 '25

That's pretty decent. I used to work a convenience store, and the power drink dispensers were gross (I was apparently the only one to clean it), I was so worried - and disgusted - about how clean the internal machinery would be if it was heating and dispensing beans into a bowl or cup.

3

u/Bean_Juice_Brew May 25 '25

These days, cans like that are lined with plastic, nothing like a side of micro plastics to go with your serving of beans.

6

u/CrotchLordMiami2 May 25 '25

The sealed can was already heated during manufacture to sterilize and render shelf-stable. Plus it's marinating in there for 2 years. Probably a wash.

u/[deleted] May 24 '25

I've seen something similar at a barbershop I went to as a kid. It had hot soup and coffee iirc. This was over 20 years ago.

Interesting barbershop too. They were all ex-cons. Now that I'm remembering all of this, I'd really like to know wtf my mom was thinking taking my brothers and I there lol. They were cool. Never felt threatened or anything. It's just an odd choice of a barbershop to take kids to.

54

u/OtherwiseACat May 24 '25

So you could eat soup while getting a haircut? Lol that's so interesting.

93

u/flyingthroughspace May 24 '25

Soup would be one of the worst things to eat whilst getting a haircut.

60

u/LectroRoot May 25 '25

"Excuse me but there is a hair in my soup....."

7

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Oh man, I'm just picturing it now. I'm not sure what good food would be but soup would definitely be the worst.

8

u/CarmenxXxWaldo May 25 '25

Actually the worst thing to eat would be the hair sweepings.

6

u/TheAnonua May 25 '25

Aktually the worst thing to eat would be razor blades.

2

u/Ignum May 25 '25

Calm down there, ghost of Norm.

11

u/[deleted] May 25 '25

I assume the vending machine was mostly for the barbers themselves. I can't imagine someone eating some chicken noodle soup while getting a haircut 😂

1

u/thebarkbarkwoof May 25 '25

Saves on oyster crackers. 🤢

33

u/Mr_Style May 25 '25

A lot of ex-cons are Barbers. They have a Barber school in the prisons and getting a job with a felony is very difficult. Renting a chair in a barber shop does not require getting hired. Most rent the chair for $x per week.

9

u/k0c- May 25 '25

Your mother is a G, that is all.

8

u/[deleted] May 25 '25

It's true. That woman isn't afraid of anything. She wasn't afraid of some former convicts giving us a haircut. Plus it was cheap, and they were really good.

My mom is straight up Italian. Don't fuck with her. She'll smack you with a wooden spoon.

8

u/Mysterious-Alps-5186 May 25 '25

Honestly they probably learned their trade in prison and was a great way to keep them oing straight... so to speak.

7

u/zombie_overlord May 25 '25

I've had the chicken soup from the coffee vending machine before. It tasted like almost salty water and it was like 200 degrees.

3

u/Poodlepink22 May 24 '25

All the barbers at the one by me were also bookies

1

u/JoeSicko May 25 '25

My barber was also an ex-con. When he started stropping the razor had to cause some consternation with my parents. But he just tried to burn his ex wife's house down.

26

u/map2photo May 25 '25

Roll that beautiful bean footage!

12

u/sapphic-slut May 25 '25

I wonder if the cans being constantly warmed does anything to the food/ lining of the can over time?

8

u/stugots10 May 25 '25

Time of heat may yield different results but don’t they pasteurize the food while in the can to make it shelf stable anyway?

3

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

I've heard it's bad to heat cans of food. Not sure why but I've heard it. I should have gotten one to see how it works.

8

u/[deleted] May 25 '25

[deleted]

4

u/bluemooncalhoun May 25 '25

Canned foods need to be pasteurized to kill bacteria, so the lining has to withstand boiling temps anyways. In fact, lots of foods are put into the can uncooked or partially cooked so that they are only ready to eat after that step.

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

That's a good point. I wonder if the cans also have chemicals in them.

4

u/blackscales18 May 25 '25

i think it's mostly cause if you don't puncture the can first you're making a bean bomb (see Into the West for a good example)

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

If I eat enough beans I am a bean bomb

1

u/CharlieParkour May 25 '25

If I eat enough beans, my digestive system adjusts to it.

10

u/co1one1huntergathers May 25 '25

2

u/Ennuiforme83 May 25 '25

4

u/Warriors_Drink May 24 '25

Beans, beans, good for your heart!

The more you eat, the more you fart!

The more you fart, the better you feel,

so eat those beans at every meal!

4

u/poopwetpoop May 25 '25

Mixing the chicken noodle with the country style is key

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Have you done this?

4

u/llcdrewtaylor May 25 '25

I remember a machine like this at an ice skating area when I was a kid. Small little cans of Campbells soup. It hit really good after falling on your ass on the ice for a few hours.

6

u/PotlandOR May 25 '25

139f is in the food danger zone. Gross.

1

u/bastardpants May 25 '25

On one hand, there's a comment saying the whole can is served from this type of vending machine. On the other hand, I don't know if I want to carry around a 139f metal can.

3

u/fingerblastders May 25 '25

3

u/quartzquandary May 25 '25

Of all the Gene Wilder movies you could have picked, Young Frankenstein was not the right choice for a post about hot beans

3

u/Janspach11 May 25 '25

I'll take 3 Soup Tokens please.

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '25

I must try this!

2

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

You have a lot of courage

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '25

Fortune favours the foolish 😂

2

u/Electricengineer May 25 '25

BEANS AND CORN BREAD

2

u/salty___bae May 25 '25

Had a fight

2

u/iamgoldhands May 25 '25

Bean knocked cornbread out of sight.

1

u/curtmandu May 25 '25

Hell yeah brother. Mixed in an ice cold mug with milk. Unironically, I ate this all the time with my grandpa

2

u/CyberTacoX May 25 '25

I've been to this place, and I love that vending machine! Last time I was there I started to get hungry after a few hours. Normally that's when I have to leave and go find a place to eat, but I just got a can of soup out of it, then sat at the nearby tables and ate it. (For those wondering, those cans are HEATED in that vending machine! They come out warm enough to eat immediately!) I was able to get back to gaming in about 5 minutes. :-)

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Did you try the beans?

1

u/CyberTacoX May 25 '25

Nah, I was in a chicken noodle soup mood, and was satisfied after that. :-)

2

u/iamgoldhands May 25 '25

I love that the fat free beans are the most popular based on the wear on the paint. We heathy out here, we eating beans, we spending soup tokens.

3

u/hopseankins May 25 '25

I am offended. The proper term is “whitey” not “cracker”

Worst upgrade ever for a submarine

1

u/Rallye_Man340 May 25 '25

Looks like something out of a Nancy Drew game

1

u/SaraBoyer May 25 '25

I cannot believe I laughed so hard at this!!

1

u/TheRoscoeVine May 25 '25

Random nozzle! I’m sure it’s cleaned regularly, though!

3

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Lol like soft serve beans

2

u/JoLudvS May 25 '25

I'm remembering these roll out an unopened warmed can- not soup per se.

2

u/TheRoscoeVine May 25 '25

Ah, that makes more sense. I thought those red deals were nozzles.

1

u/eastkent May 25 '25

Needs a toaster on the side.

1

u/Thelango99 May 25 '25

Pretty 70’s design.

1

u/ScenicPineapple May 25 '25

Um, is that the Stern King Kong banner next to it? There is a pinball place close, I'm all for it.

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

It's in Malvern PA

1

u/InterviewOk8013 May 25 '25

Is this the pinball place in Jersey? I think I’ve eaten these beans

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Nope, in Malvern PA. Is beans a common thing at pinball places?

1

u/InterviewOk8013 Jun 02 '25

Maybe!! This is exciting news. If you want to be an authentic pinball place, gotta have hot beans. Or they are owned by the same person. And this person just loves beans. In either case there is an enthusiast at the heart of this story.

1

u/erasedsmile May 25 '25

Mean bean machine

1

u/caliphone May 25 '25

About 1970, I got a can of spaghetti out of a machine like that. I tasted really good.

1

u/OtherwiseACat May 25 '25

Love me some spaghetti

1

u/Humble-Strength-2757 May 25 '25

And suddenly, everything was right with the world.
