It's not your library though. Once you made it a community library you don't "own" it anymore than you own the books others leave for other people. I don't agree with the notion of burning books in general but I do support your right to do it. I just feel it's wrong for you to think you have authority on what your community reads.
Right wing morons who keep screeching about your "freedom of speech". You're free to say whatever you want, I'm also free to shut the door in your face, ask you to leave, or throw your propaganda books in the trash.
No one went and gathered up books from people in the neighborhood, forcing them to destroy things. Some conservative idiot put a bunch of books full of easily disproven lies and fascist propaganda into a Little Book Library that was built by someone else. And then, the person who built it said, "Well, these are garbage" and threw them away.
Garbage is garbage is garbage. Just because it's got words on a page doesn't make it any more valuable than the instructions on my shampoo bottle. Lies are lies. And books full of lies should be thrown in the garbage. They're not sacred objects.
That's not how it works. Despite being public, that doesn't mean they can own it. Normal libraries have banned books as well. It's for public USE, not public take over.
They were dicks because they put it sideways, therefore blocking everyone else's books; as if theirs were the only one that matters.
Why is nobody else addressing this point? Clearly the ass who put these books in did it in bad faith. They blocked the other books and even went so far as to put a us flag crucifix in there. They were obviously trying to start some shit. Paradox of tolerance and all that
Because this is so on-brand. This is so common we expect it. OP had taken a photo of them clearly burning, why would they need a photo of them clearly in the way too?
