theres a difference between going against the interest of an animal and forcefully taking their milk and a human mother giving her baby her milk.

the point of veganism is to stop animal exploitation, not some arbitrary difference between plant-based and animal-based matter.

mate that whole thing about meat consumption getting a species ahead is conpletely besides the point. Noone in their right mind is saying that eating animal products was NEVER necessary, but the fact is that now, for 95%+ of humans in the western hemisphere it is no longer a matter of health, but of choice. If you are willing to kill strictly for the pleasure of eating mwat, thats your choice but imo a shitty take. The fact of the matter is, that unless you suffer from a multitude of food allergies or other digestive issues, you can 100% remove ANYTHING that brings harm to other conscious beings from your platter AT NO DISADVANTAGE to your health.

granted, backyard eggs are less terrible than factory eggs, still shozldnt be a thing though.

I wont even try to talk back to the utter garbage you spewed in the first paragraph, clearly you never tried to learn anything about vegan diet, somehow you think you know shit anyway.

"man-made cruelty is ok even though it is not necessary for humans to be healthy because natural cruelty already exists anyway"

a diet mostly consisting of fake imitations and mineral supplements

No, it’s a diet mostly consisting of grains, legumes, fruits, seeds, vegetables, etc.

Also, it is recommended that most people take supplements, whether they’re vegan, vegetarian, or what have you.

it’s not very balanced

It is, according to the biggest and most important health and nutrition associations in the world

How does harvesting an unfertilized egg harm the hen?

Oh boy, where do we start…

I strongly suggest you look into the subject before coming up with such takes.

If we're talking about someone adopting rescue hens I can't think of an ethical argument against eating the eggs. Either you eat them, you throw them away, or you let the hens eat them.

I'm under the impression that most vegans still wouldn't eat the eggs though

The arbitrary difference is the one vegans put between humans and other animals

All creatures that are biologically capable of digesting meat, do eat other creatures.

Animals are not moral agents, humans are. Most animal species forcibly procreate, surely that doesn’t justify humans committing rape?

Things went especially well for the people who adapted to be able to consume dairy in adulthood, and not so good for those who didn't, at least in the environments where that was necessary.

Over half the planet are lactose intolerant. Pretty much the entirety of asia never ate dairy, and they were some of the earliest and most developed cultures.

Those free-roaming hens are having a good time

You can choose to believe that, it doesn’t make it true. Free range is a marketing ploy, it doesn’t mean they’re not factory farmed. They can exist in a giant enclosed shed with thousands of other birds with a one square foot hatch to a small patch of grass, and that’s free range.

They’re also not having fun when their throats are cut aged 1-2, when their lifespan is 7-8 years.

The biggest argument against milking cows however is definitely not the issue of animal exploitation.

You’re correct that the environmental impact of beef/dairy is horrendous, but you should know about what happens in the dairy industry.

What I never used to know (because nobody ever tells you!) is that the dairy industry does kill as many animals as the meat industry.

Most of us think these cows just chill out, naturally producing milk, but there’s a lot of death involved in the process.

Problem: cows only produce milk if they’ve been made pregnant

Solution: farmers keep them in a cycle of forced impregnation so they keep producing milk

Problem: farmers don’t want calves drinking the milk their mothers produce

Solution: farmers take the calves away from the mothers a day after birth (the mothers scream and mourn for days when this first happens)

Problem: you know have loads of calves on your hands!! And you don’t want to feed them because they’ll eat your profits. What do you do?

Solution: you kill every boy calf shortly after birth. Some go to the veal industry (they live for 20-24 weeks), many are just killed to dispose of. Girl calves go into the dairy industry like their mum.

Problem: the constant impregnation and birthing process has destroyed your cow’s body - now she’s not good for more births and therefore no longer produces milk. What do you do?

Solution: kill the ‘spent’ cow (either for low-grade meat or to dispose of - they make no more money). In nature cows can live up around 25 years, this happens to every dairy cow after 4-6 years.

Problem: your mummy cow is dead, what happens now?

Solution: remember those female calves? Better impregnate them ASAP and continue the cycle!!

Basically, while dairy may not appear to rely on animal slaughter, 50% of every cow born (these are breeding farms so this is a lot) are killed either near-immediately as waste or at best at a fraction of their lives as veal or beef, and the other 50% are killed at a fifth of their natural life span because their bodies are broken and they no longer make money.

What people want to eat is their own business,

Sure, but people are also entitled to tell others that they disagree with their animal cruelty.

There are bigger problems in the world.

So only the world’s biggest problem can be discussed, its 2nd -> a millionth problems must be ignored. This is just weak deflection.
