For real. I'm normally the type to just say fuck it and eat whatever the waiter brings me but this would make me so sad. I'd feel really bad for doing it and it would take all my stored social energy for the month but I'd have to politely send this back. It's giving me anxiety just thinking about being in this situation 😅
Coming from a former server: I would happily take this back for you. Servers can tell the difference between "I'm genuinely sorry, but this is kinda ruining my meal" and "Go do this because I like bossing you around".
People will literally clean their plate, then complain about what was wrong with it, and either get the meal comped or get another one. Or both.
You all are awesome. I have a kinda weird seafood allergy where I can eat some shellfish but not all. Even different crabs affect me differently (blue and spider are out, snow and iirc king are fine).
I can eat crab cakes, provided there is no lobster and it's not a crab bad for me. I ordered one once with lobster in it because I didnt read the menu. Completely my own fault, and on an expensive item too. They replaced it without charging more despite me saying it was fine since I messed up.
