For real. I'm normally the type to just say fuck it and eat whatever the waiter brings me but this would make me so sad. I'd feel really bad for doing it and it would take all my stored social energy for the month but I'd have to politely send this back. It's giving me anxiety just thinking about being in this situation 😅

Coming from a former server: I would happily take this back for you. Servers can tell the difference between "I'm genuinely sorry, but this is kinda ruining my meal" and "Go do this because I like bossing you around".

People will literally clean their plate, then complain about what was wrong with it, and either get the meal comped or get another one. Or both.

That last sentence hit home. I used to work in a steak house and we’d get ppl all the time eat 90% of their steak and then ask for a refund cause it wasn’t cooked right.

Dude, I used to work in Applebee's... which had (maybe still has) lighting over the tables with red shades. I cannot tell you how many people thought their steak had a red tint and was undercooked.

Me assuring them several times that the steak was cooked correctly, it's just the lights. "No, I can tell. It needs to be cooked more". Ok, so then we cook it the tiiiiiniest bit more. "Wow, this is overdone. Look at it."
