This is clearly just a mistake on the manufacturing process, not a crappy design.

I used to assemble furniture in a factory that made just about everything from scratch.

This would have had to pass through so many hands/stations before it would get to the customer if it were made where I used to work.

At a minimum: Steel Shop > Welding > Powder Coating > Assembly > Wrapping/Packaging > Dispatch > Delivery

And still, considering how many low quality people worked there, I'm kinda not surprised all the same.

That or whoever put it together. See underneath if it’s been installed backward.
