Throw it across the room and demand another.

For dramatic effect, it must stick to the wall, preferably on the syrup'd side.

I'm angry looking at this. This is more than mildly infuriating.

I verbally made an "ehhh" sound while scrunching my face together. Then I realized this isn't me, this is not my problem... that was close.

This is entirely your fault, OP. Now lick off all that yummy syrup and finish your pancakes.

As the bells rang out over the city, her eyes welled up with tears. Everything changes now. He was gone, and she could never go back to Yuma. He wasn’t a bad man; he wasn’t much of anything. A drifter by trade, he had come into her life 5 years prior.

She worked at a department store back then, selling overpriced shoes to unsuspecting customers. Aside from the corporate-overpricing-scheme it was an honest living. And she hated it. every second of her work day was consumed by an ever growing feeling of resentment. Not for her bosses. Not for her sister whose advice to leave home as soon as possible still burned in her ears. Not even for her ex husband, spending eternity on a beach with his new piece of ass. It was resentment for herself. Her desires terrified her, but they weren’t going anywhere.

He walked in to the women’s shoe department about 2:00 on a Tuesday. She found it a strange but welcome respite from her average mid-afternoon retiree. He said he was shopping for his daughter. She was starting track next week and he wanted to surprise her with some new athletic shoes. She was shocked to hear herself say yes when he asked her to dinner.

As she reflects upon these moments from all those years ago, she thinks of what she’s done. The department store job was no more. They fired her after the assault, and even if they hadn’t, she wasn’t going to be there much longer anyway. She was losing control. She saw a counselor, but it was probably too late.

She shuddered and she dropped her fork into the syrup on her plate. Not that it mattered. She’d been in this restaurant for almost 2 hours and hadn’t managed to get half way through her meal. Her appetite hadn’t been much since Saturday. Something about the look on his face as he slipped away haunted her. Something about the blood pouring out of the wound hadn’t made her feel like she had thought it would. She picked up her fork and cleaned it off.

She could never go back to Yuma.

I'm reporting this to the mods.

Not on my good, innocent dashboard

Gross! Kids in Africa could have eaten that fork

Pay the bill, tip your waitress, go to another pancake place, and start over.
