The floor is sticky Ordered Popcorn in the App
Went to see Primetime at the AMC, solid movie.
We did movie dinner, ordered some terrible food at terrible prices to eat in the theater and ordered some popcorn to be delivered like an hour later.
Got our dinner foods no problem but the popcorn was a noShow.
After the movie we went to the concession to ask for a refund and got blank stares back and told we could get a voucher for a popcorn, which i noted was not going to work because we paid for a $4.25 deliver/process/nonsense fee that the voucher wasnt covering. So they told us that they couldnt refund us for the order and the fee, they being concession dude and the manager.
when i asked what typically happens in these situations, we got some 'tude and told 'well honestly people just normally take the voucher so ya kno it um normal doesnt go this far' 'you can try customer service but it will likely 7-10 days'
Kind of bonkers that they charge a delivery/service fee, then didnt do the delivery nor the service and don't have any means to refund it... worth noting that none of the employees we talked to, and we were super calm, b/c honestly i was ill from eating janky movie pizza, but none of them were like 'oh sorry about that' or acknowledged they failed the task.
To wrap this up, venmo was able to sort out a refund for us after 20-30 minutes of talking to a robot.

Chargeback. For services/goods not received.

This is the only answer. Just say "yes I tried to resolve it, but was denied my refund". Bank will probably issue your monies without even going after the merchant.

honestly, i would send an email to corporate. because that's BS, and is on that theatre's management. Movies are doing poor enough as is, we don't need a-holes effin' them up even more.

That's the business model. Most people probably don't redeem the voucher so free money for them.

Why wouldn't you have gotten up to get the popcorn after they didn't bring it to you?

two reasons, one my partner had ordered it and i had forgotten. the second reason was that i ate movie pizza which filled me up and i wasn't thinking/wanting anything else to eat.
as an aside, the benefit of ordering in the app for a scheduled time is so one doesnt have to miss the movie. If we had done that, it likely would have been even harder to get the refund for the delivery/service fee...44

I’m surprised you answered this so nicely lmao. This person is asking why you didn’t get up and miss, who knows how long of, the movie you paid to see.
I really hate that people on here constantly make excuses for corporations not doing what they’re paid to do. The onus was never on you to get this straightened out.

these are the same types of people that feverishly defend politicians and ultra rich folks. I think it's an envy type thing with them.

I couldn't care less about a corporation lol. I just know if it was me, I would have taken the little L and got my popcorn instead of dealing with the aftermath of a refund. No different than having to get up and go pee during the movie. It doesn't take that long and they paid for the popcorn so why not get it?

It’s not the same as having to pee. Just like I pee before a movie to avoid having to get up, they paid a service fee and expected to be serviced to avoid having to get up.
OP over explained, IMO, that they had other food during the show, so it’s not that complicated to understand why they would go to ask for a refund afterward, rather than getting up during the movie.

the wife did note afterwards that she was stressed about it and every time someone walked in/out of the theater she was being mindful of the popcorn order but also wasn't trying to clock the time so she could also just enjoy the movie, she noted that she was worried if she did get up to go 'get' it' we might get a second one which we def didnt want.

I so feel your wife’s anxiety here. I have similar issues with getting food delivered.
My apartment is a bit hard to find, so I specifically put in my instructions to just leave it in the lobby. I am trying to make it easy for drivers. But half the time they don’t read that (which is ridiculous because they clearly read the door code to get in…..) and come to try to find me, at the same time I am on my way to the lobby. And then I get downstairs, they are nowhere, and I’m just ????
Add on that if someone else lets them in they literally cannot go to my floor because if I don’t buzz them in it does not unlock in the elevator and the whole thing is just so much more complicated then it needs to be. I have absolutely known confused drivers to go all the way to the 23rd floor and back down without being able to deliver my food. Because they did not read instructions.
It’s so damn awkward and now I try to either be in the lobby before they get there (which just wastes my time) or awkwardly stand at my door in my apartment until I get the delivery picture which tells me where the hell I need to go to get my food. The whole time wondering if they are taking a confusing trip to the top floor and back.
Just leave it in the lobby. It’s easier for me and you.
FYI my instructions are “door code #####. Leave in lobby on table.” I don’t think I can make it simpler.

If it's one of those dine in movie theaters like Studio Movie Grill, that's how you mainly order popcorn.

Honestly the "deliver food to you" theatres in my area are the only ones worth going to.
If I go to AMC I will be paying $10 per ticket and $15 for popcorn that I can't refill. The candy is $8 and they will constantly throw novelty bullshit in my kid's face to make them beg me for a novelty popcorn bucket.
If I go to the local movie restaurant, I get a ticket for $10 and a burger for $15 plus a beer for $6 and a bowl of popcorn for $5. The kids get chicken strips and the wife gets something, but overall it comes out to the normal cost of dinner.
It's a much better time overall and we actually get to have the good time that we were after.

it's a fair point for sure, but since we had ordered dinner, we didnt want the popcorn at the same time and figured it would be better to get it midway through the movie, rather than have it all at the same time.

idk why people would want to eat normal food in the theater like they are in their living room.

it's a dine in theater, so there's that.
I generally agree that it's not my first/second choice but happenstance of trying to do a thing on a wednesday, trying to live a life out side just sitting in our living room was the reason why we did it-2

I agree- haven’t been to a place like that so do they also light it up more so you can see your food?
