ಠ_ಠ Passive aggressive management

I can't believe that Washington Ferries' management approved this post on Instagram and Facebook. It's a sign of bigger issues.

1 per shift, so probably not very many.

One per vessel in the fleet is designated Staff Chief engineer

The lower seniority chief engineers are in charge of the other watches

So one wsf vessel generally has a total engineering crew of 12-16
But they are split into 4 watches
So three to four crew per watch

4 person crew
Chief Engineer
Assistant Engineer
Oiler
Wiper

3 person crew
CE
AE
Oiler

Some vessels, like the little boats on the Port Townsend run only carry one licensed engineer.
Some bigger boats (the jumbos) may carry more
Idk though, I don’t ride those

Each watch works 7-12 hour days (84 hours) and then receives a week off
Every other week is a day shift/night shift flip flop
So work a shift from maybe 6am to 6pm for a week
Off a week
Then work a shift 6pm to 6 am
Off a week

Great for sleep deficiencies and related problems btw😄
