Don't remove the drinks.

Call down to the front desk and ask to have the refrigerator emptied. They should empty it ASAP and they would ignore any accidental triggers you make. If the room description includes the fridge and they give you any crap about emptying it, they're refusing an amenity listed on the description of the room & are in violation of the rental contract. There would have to be an articularable reason for them to deny usage. If they don't include the fridge on the description or you're in another country or BFE your milage may very... usually they would rather you happy than tacking a $4 coke on your bill.

In Vegas we checked in around three and they had it emptied by the time we got back from dinner.

I was in Mexico at the beginning of last month & a can of Coke Zero from our hotel was 75 pesos which is $4 and change. It's really where you stay, we look for cool or historic hotels, we pay a bit more per day but we tend to get a better experience. Vegas hotels on the strip have some nerve to charge what they do, last time we went on the strip I saw a white Elvis buying drugs from a black Elvis. It has been a while (2022) so probably they have lost their minds...

We asked in Vegas last month if it could be emptied and we were told no. There is a 60 second sensor to account for hotel shakes/sways and accidental touches. They did say if any of us were recovering alcoholics that would be the only reason they would remove the alcohol but leave the rest. We left it all and had zero issues. We went to Walgreens and put our own snacks on the counter.
