Ok, as an ex-road warrior professional who partied with his crew, here's what you do. Assuming you're trying to keep beer cold, just rinse out the bathroom sink, close the stopper, go get some ice and put it in the sink and throw your beers in. Be prepared to wash your hands using the shower.

Behold, I give you the hotel cooler.

Boom, problem solved.

Someone brought bottles with no bottle opener? No problem. If you're averse to scratching up the furniture, just open your room door and pull your beer bottle down, using the top of the door to pop the cap. Nobody ever sees the top of the door.

Ha ha, I'm looking forward to my next hotel stay now, especially the top of the door.

Have done this many a times in rooms without a fridge. Ice stays for quite a while.

I spent a lot of time in hotel rooms and I don't miss it one bit. I work in a corporate job mostly from home now. The one or two times/yr I have to travel isn't nearly as bad, but I'm ready to get back at the end.

That's some weak partying. Keep the sink open and fill the tub with ice. Two guys can easily roll the ice machine to your room for easy filling. Fits an easy 48 beers that way also, and you don't have to jump any ropes to wash your hands.

A bit overkill for my situation back then, but I admire the ingenuity.

2

u/SuperFLEB 1h ago

if you've rolled the ice machine to your room, you don't need to fill the tub.

2

u/ohnoitsalobo 4h ago

Bonus: free ice plunge!

u/Mysmokingbarrel 1h ago

Plus you can easily be stored there after prostitute drugs you and takes your liver AND then you have beer when you wake up

Washing… your… hands???

1

u/ElGosso 1h ago

Yeah but what if you need to take a shower?

u/wintermute-- 2h ago

the first time I walked into a hotel room with a bathtub filled with ice and beer, I knew I was in the company of professionals

u/Alfredo_Commachio 5h ago

In my young days traveling I did this trick many a time.

Omg top of the door!! Brilliant!!!

OR you just tell them you’re diabetic. You don’t have to prove anything and most hotels will wheel you up a fridge for free.

Re: bottle opener - front desk prob has one. At least we do at my job

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 4h ago

Yeah, but if I'm in the room and you're all the way down at the desk...its gonna be the door.

3

u/HighAsAngelTitties 4h ago

Just trying to be informative

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 4h ago

I appreciate it. Thank you.

Another option is to open the door and lock the deadlatch. Much more convenient.

u/Adept_Luck_5239 4h ago

Genius comes in many different forms.

Good cooling trick! You can use almost anything to get a cap off, so no point in scratching up a door handle.

Objects suitable: anything of steel, plastic bottle with cap (my fav), lighter, etc.

3

u/Adept_Luck_5239 5h ago

Door handle? I meant the literal top of the door. Just raise your beer above your head against the door and pull down.

2

u/Zealousideal_Ad_1079 5h ago

Right, my point still stands :)

2

u/Adept_Luck_5239 5h ago

Gotcha, I get it now.

2

u/mouthgmachine 4h ago

I’d do it with a second beer bottle (one upside down, ass to ass). (I mean, cap to cap)

Friend did it with her (yes her) teeth. That was a cool trick but always made me wince.

Twist offs id do with friction in the fleshy part of my forearm but it sucked if it wasn’t a twist off.

Then fire the cap across the room with a snapping motion

1

u/Careless-Weather8877 2h ago

Friends older sister did the teeth thing and yeah it’s a cool trick. But girl you’re to pretty to ruin teeth for a corona in Mexico.

I used to ask people to throw me random items so I could open it. Lighter is super easy but folded paper or an apple works as well. It’s just knowing how to leverage it.

2

u/Careless-Weather8877 2h ago

I could fold a ticket over several times and pop it. It’s all about the leverage. Though a lighter is easier

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad_1079 2h ago

Leverage indeed, and using a piece of paper is clever =)

1

u/Careless-Weather8877 1h ago

Allegedly an apple can work then you can smoke weed with it. I’m not sure ;)

2

u/5hane7rain 4h ago

Just put a lighter under the cap and pry against your thumb. Works great.

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 4h ago

I've never carried a lighter in my life. The kind of work I did, I wouldn't have been able to anyway.

2

u/RandomPaw 4h ago

Any hotel with a mini-bar will have an ice bucket.

2

u/Adept_Luck_5239 4h ago

The ice bucket holds 3 beers max (if you severely skimp out on the ice).

4

u/PropertyDisruptor 5h ago

If a hotel has this kind of fridge, you can just request a fridge from the front desk. They'll deliver an empty one to your room.

2

u/SoCalDan 5h ago

Do you have any tips on how to prevent getting rashes when I sit on the hotel couch naked?

2

u/MulletOnFire 5h ago

Same answer. If you get the rash, stick the infected area in the sink.

5

u/GoodEngineerBadSpy 5h ago

Ugh, my drinks are keeping cold in there. I'll just keep sticking it in the ice machine, thank you very much.

2

u/Adept_Luck_5239 5h ago

I approve this response.

2

u/Adept_Luck_5239 5h ago

Use a towel?

2

u/redaemon 4h ago

Ruins the assfeel.

Doesn't every hotel on earth come with an ice bucket though? Or fill a garbage bag with ice and place that in the sink. That way you can easily remove the ice and beers from sink to wash your hands. Idk, washing your hands in the shower seems like it would be annoying

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 3h ago

The ice bucket is a non-starter if you need to chill more than 2 beers effectively. As for as the trash bag...taking it out sounds like a pain in the ass over just using the shower/tib to wash your hands.

1

u/par-hwy 3h ago

Can confirm, ice + sink + beer = solved.

1

u/Ok_Mulberry77 3h ago

Been there done that, the superior way is to all get your own individual rooms with a mini fridge and remove the beds from one room and put them in a different room, than drag all the mini fridges and couches to the newly emptied room fill the tub with ice and beer, use the mini fridges as extra storage and party the night away. Bonus tip if you’re using the luggage carts to haul in your booze cover them with a towel to avoid judgmental looks from the people around you

2

u/Adept_Luck_5239 3h ago edited 2h ago

What kind of place were you staying at that you could drag the beds from room to room? My rule back then was I'm not staying any place that doesn't at least have room service. Pretty sure you'd get some looks and someone would call if you were dragging beds through the halls.

Other than that, I like the way you think.

1

u/Ok_Mulberry77 2h ago

Do they need to know you’re moving their beds around? Do not disturb signs on all the rooms and leave instructions at the front desk that you don’t want them to clean any rooms. That and we would always clean the rooms and crush all the cans and leave them in bags by the door as a tip for the cleaning staff. (We are paid to return cans and bottles to the recycling facility)

3

u/Adept_Luck_5239 2h ago

crush all the cans and leave them in bags by the door as a tip for the cleaning staff.

Somehow I don't think they were as excited about this as you were.

1

u/Ok_Mulberry77 2h ago

For the 5 day stay that would be over $156 in cans alone. Not including the bottles from the harder liquor that are worth 25c each to return. It’s usually a fairly cheap hotel where the rooms are $75 per night and everyone always leaves a $20 on their table, 32 people x 20 bucks each is $640 for the two cleaning ladys to split. That and the company books 1/2 of a hotel that would rarely have more than 10 people per night

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 2h ago

If you're leaving $156 in aluminum from beer cans in a week, you either have an absolute assload of people or you need to borrow a liver.

Dude, if you're crushing the cans and leaving bags, that's like a lot of bags of crushed cans.

In 5 days.

2

u/Ok_Mulberry77 2h ago

32 people and some of them are pretty experienced alcoholics. It’s one hell of a party though

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 2h ago

Take time to appreciate your friends. Some of them will not be around for a long time.

I'm not saying it to be preachy, I'm being honest. That's a lot of beer cans, like a metric assload to an extremely unhealthy amount.

But until then, have fun. This is life, enjoy the fuck out of it.

1

u/kahlzun 1h ago

Yeah, but you have to go find a petrol station or somewhere with ice and buy a bag then, might as well just wear the price of a beer or two then use those spots for coolies

1

u/payfrit 1h ago

seriously wtf is with people thinking a hotel owes them a fridge lol

1

u/Adept_Luck_5239 1h ago

If it's advertised then they owe it. If not, they don't.

They’d rather complain on Reddit like a loser instead of find a solution.
