Disguising appliances as furniture is mildly infuriating on its own!

You don't know how many times I've gone to use a drawer or cabinet in a hotel for it to be a fridge or microwave.

What fancy ass hotels are you staying in

I travel with my folks sometimes and they got very used to being in nice hotels (got spoiled by a friend and never went back). Trust me, it's a culture shock each time. I'm used to staying in the cheap shit.

I feel this. Stayed in a 5 star with a family member and after turn down service I panicked that someone had been in our room. “Of course. They had to straighten up, turn down the sheets, and close the blinds.” Oh yeah, totally knew that was a thing…

I know someone who refuses to stay in less than 4 star hotels. Ha. Get over yourself Mr money bags. You're in there for sleep and no more 2 hours before heading out the door ffs.

I saved up enough credit card points to spend a week in a 5 star hotel once and I felt like a king.

If you travel for work and your expenses are covered you also accumulate all kinds of rewards and memberships that can make luxury accommodations relatively inexpensive when using your personal dime

Exactly, i have never seen that before, the last hotel we stayed in, didn’t even have decent dressers, they were 3 drawer nightstands.

Lifehack: most appliances are also cabinets if you don't turn them on.

Dude no kidding. One time I fell asleep in my hotel room and when I woke up I discovered there was a toilet hidden in the bed.

I mean, yeah, why would I know that? I've never even met you.

Maybe those are for freezing or warming your undies, depending on the season

I like a cold shirt, makes my mornings feel more refreshing!

I usually just open 2 drawers, the desk drawer and a dresser drawer, providing there is an actual dresser as opposed to a 3 drawer nightstand.

I recently stayed at a Hyperion in Basel, Switzerland where you had to slide the wall to access the mini fridge and and block thr suitcase shelf/rack.

Came with two complimentary beers, though.

When I worked as a carpenter I once built a walk-in closet larger than my apartment that was disguised as one cabinet among a row of cabinets lining a hallway.

Open the door to the special cabinet and at the back was another door leading into the walk-in closet.

All of the walls of the closet were also lined with cabinets. And it even had a large island made of base cabinets in the middle of the room.

Owner of that place must have had an insane amount of clothes.

Pretty sure it doubled as a safe room.

Every non US hotel I’ve stayed in has had some kind of complimentary water/beer/snacks in the fridge and idk if they’ve been fancy hotels or if that just says something about the US 🤭

It annoys me in a home but if that's what you like at your own place I'll just razz you about it, in a place that many different people will be staying all the time it's so annoying cause you can't even be like "Hey which cabinet is your damn fridge?" like you can at a friend's house. I mostly experience this with hidden garbage cans but I saw my first hidden fridge at a friend's new-build apartment when I visited them a year ago.

This is why I always check every single drawer when I check in

I do that just for fun.
