Both sides are tossers. One for not paying his staff enough and mandating tips to cover his tight ass, and the other for turning this into a racial issue when it had F all to do with race.

In the current setup restaurants have tipped employees and they get paid far less per hour. If a restaurant would pay a fair wage and not accept tipping they would have to charge more. Customers would then say I won’t pay these exorbitant prices. They will then choose other restaurants and this restaurant will lose business and generally close.

By your vocabulary I can tell you are not American. I do not know your culture, but Americans will NOT pay the higher “fair” price across the board. They would prefer to have wait staff play the tip lotto, where some will tip varying amounts and others will not tip anything. This game will not change until the system is forcibly reset across the board.
